Right now since nobody is doing any events right now because of the current situation I'm doing what some others are doing and that is Facebook live to find something to do and for people to see I'm still a DJ doing the thing.Super Mixy
why do you need to go on line?
It's a decent laptop. 8Gb RAM might be a little small these days for DJ apps, but that can usually be upgraded fairly cheaply.I'm curious what Steve has to say about the purchase I made.
Thanks Steve. When Djing I just keep it simple. I use VDJ and I don't do a whole lot of tricks like others do. Some use the special effects on VDJ and I can't stand them. That's what I have the Pioneer EFX 500 for. Now you said it's a decent laptop. What are your likes and dislikes about it? Anybody can chime in.It's a decent laptop. 8Gb RAM might be a little small these days for DJ apps, but that can usually be upgraded fairly cheaply.
It will be fast enough for effects. Without a dedicated video card it might not be the best unit for video mixing, but will be fine for audio. Thanks Steve. When Djing I just keep it simple. Thanks Steve. We don't do video. So it will work just fine for what we do. Just for curiosity sake when looking to do video, what would you recommend? It will be fast enough for effects. Without a dedicated video card it might not be the best unit for video mixing, but will be fine for audio.
A separate video card in the laptop. Most vendors have several models with one. Normally I would recommend a "gaming" laptop, as they tend to have all the appropriate pieces for video work (faster processors, solid state drives, video cards, etc.). If you like the Lenovo IdeaPad, here's their gaming versions ... I use a Dell gaming laptop. Thanks Steve. We don't do video. So it will work just fine for what we do. Thanks again Steve. Nice laptop. I just wasn't looking to spend that much. I didn't want my whole stimulus check eaten up. Besides that I had to find out it's a lot of work to be able to provide video. Let me ask this question. Was HP bought out by another company?A separate video card in the laptop. No, HP still makes computers. Thanks again Steve. Nice laptop. I just wasn't looking to spend that much. I didn't want my whole stimulus check eaten up. Besides that I had to find out it's a lot of work to be able to provide video. Let me ask this question. Was HP bought out by another company?
I understand they are not as good as they used to be. I was thinking about what happened to Cerwin Vega. They were bought out by Gibson and the quality went in the toilet. The name is the same but the quality isn't.No, HP still makes computers.
Not sure .. Laptop Magazine rates them 1st. I would say they are in the top 5. HP is the largest PC manufacturer ...I understand they are not as good as they used to be. For his hobby ...Not sure why you guys are 'recommending' anything .. considering he's not in business anymore.
Mix just needs to embrace that and ditch the thought of being House promoter of the year ...Most DJs dont make any money or operate profitable business. Absolutely Nothing wrong with that. Everyone needs a hobby.
Several DJs on here mentioned buying a laptop that would be good enough to use for video. That sounds very nice indeed. The problem is that such a laptop is not cheap at all. The one Steve posted about starting price is $850.00. That's quite a nice amount to spend on a laptop. Some years back we were considering getting to providing video to clients. The problem with that I realized the setup to get what's needed is costly and not that easy to setup at an event. It's time consuming.
The other issue was who were the clients who were going to pay us to provide video? No need to have something to use and you can't sell it. Clients like that are generally people who have money to spend and I'm talking a nice amount of money to spend. Not $300-400 to provide video at an event. That's too much work to get paid so little amount of money. Then if you plan on having that to provide to clients, it needs to be clients who are upscale clients and not someone balking at spending $500 just for a DJ and that's all they get.
