Last night I went to a Halloween party and had a good time.

Good for you. For me it would be like pulling teeth.
You shouldn't have to like the music to be able to play it .. that's sort of given as a "professional" ...

This is why most if not all of us make significantly more per gig than Mach ego man , I’d like to challenge him to a year end earnings statement

lol...yeah...i think i challenged him to something similar at some point...he was oddly silent on the topic...

Could you do an event like that with ease?

I don’t think that would be a problem for most DJ’s.

Do you think that you could do a wedding for an average 30’s something couple. They give you a list of their formal songs, but give you free reign on all the other music for the day/evening. They want you to do your best to keep their guest who are real party people on the dance floor.

Only other demand from them is NO HOUSE MUSIC.

Honestly I'm not sure. Probably not. Depends on what other styles of music they and their guests want.

See Man,
That’s a real problem. To most DJ’s their would be no issue in doing that party. You are way too focused on the house music and old skool stuff. And the demand and people willing to pay for that is just not there.

Your like a type casted actor.

The DJ was very good. I loved that he got to play some songs that I wish I could play at an event. 2 of the songs were Sweet Caroline and Cotton Eye Joe. Those are 2 great songs! My thing is because I'm black people think I'm not supposed to like such songs.

If you wish you could play these songs, you need to channel your marketing towards events that appreciate this "type" of music. I've played these two songs countless times and the crowds are very responsive to them. About 60% of what I do are weddings in a more rural community.

You could easily restructure your marketing campaign towards the upper end four digit weddings and move out of the handball/park/street low end banquet halls and soon you will be seeing a much better, healthier life and business world. Plus, you can play something other than house music.

Think of all the greatness potential and opportunistic future that could be coming your way.

Just another suggestion that you'll probably choose to ignore.

Any advice here is the same advice you have received over the years that you've been here. None of this will magically do anything for you. Now, just as then, it will only happen when you decide to get out of your own way and make it happen.

If anyone wants to challenge me to a DJ smackdown, it's on.

2 conditions:
1)You gotta come to Cleveland. It's happening in my garage and driveway
2) we are drinking beers

I probably won't even set up my system, so you'll have a great chance of winning.

Why not just drink and leave the rest of us out of it!
Oh wait....you already do that

Part 1 of Condition 1 is a deal killer. (Way too close to Detroit...LOL)

Also, I can handle part 2 with or without ya and won't need to travel...
