Just an event we did on 1-12-19 I think.

Closer to 25 but to be fair it was somewhat of a regional hit and likely popular in dance clubs in the mid 90's. Unless you dig house you probably don't know the song.
Like I said it's a song that at certain events it's a must play song. Kenny Bobien is one of the best singers of them all and is a hot item to book for parties. He normally will do 4 songs for 1k. He's also a minister of a church somewhere around here.

Exactly - he's a local artist with a decent following in Newark, but he never made it big outside of the local garage/house music scene. "You Are My Friend" was released on Cover Records in 1995... catalog number 001, and there isn't a release with number 002. Isn't he the guy who performed at that benefit in the park for the kid who died of cancer? The one that you didn't get hired for because you thought the kid's father was using city funds for his personal finances?

In my area, the closest thing to Kenny Bobien is Tavares, but they made it big.

He's made it big besides Newark. He has a ton of hits he's done over the many years he's been performing. The issue at the time you're talking about us not doing the event was over money. He didn't want to pay the money we wanted to do the event. He messed up and realized his mistake and got us to do it the following year.

What did happen is one time he was trying to get out of paying Kenny all his money. He told him he needed all his money up front or he wasn't going on stage to perform.

Yep....Kenny was a superstar...and now he's squabbling over gettin paid at a church basement somewhere in New Jersey

I got a new name for you Fantasy Island. The plane boss the plane. You got it wrong as usual. The event was in Branch Brook Park and the guy loves to pull the sympathy card. He wants people to feel sorry because the event is for his sons memorial. All Kenny wanted was the full amount he was due, if not then he wouldn't perform. Just that simple. He performed because he got paid his money.

I was trying to keep my spirits up at that event. This was right before I was to have my hip replacement surgery. I had the surgery on 1-23-19.

Hey, at least your back is healed! Maybe you can go off of full disability!

Praise The Lord! You are Healed! If you can dance like that, I am 1000% sure, your back is fine!
