I use EON 610's with EV subs. They sound great and have a broad 110-degree coverage angle. A pair of 10's gives you very tight mids with as much surface area as a single 14-inch woofer. A pair of 12's gives you strong lower mids, with as much surface area as a single 17-inch woofer.
Isn't the time to seek opinions BEFORE you make a purchase? Now you are just looking for validation of your purchase. Sorry, needed to point out the obvious.
Any speaker in this size and price point is going to be an exercise in compromise. Weight and price were clearly driving factors of this speaker. And I'm sure JBL did the best they could for the price. Maybe it doesn't get as loud, or low, or as smooth, or as whatever as another speaker that sells for twice the price and weighs 20 pounds more. Who cares? It wasn't meant to compete with that speaker. The question is how does it compare to speakers of a lower price and weight. My guess is that it is quite competitive within that group. Despite all the changes in JBL over the last 5 years, they are still a reputable company that can make a good product.
