In the past couple years TikTok has rose to fame and now is one of the most used and downloaded app on our phones. Although TikTok does have a variety of content, a lot of videos are someway linked to music whether it is people dancing or creating a beat with the comment section. So what im trying to get at is TikTok is heavily influenced by music therefore the songs which are popular on TikTok become popular everywhere, you could even say that TikTok is now the root of chart music . This can be considered a good thing because it can an artist a massive boost in their music carrer for example : Lil Nas X with his song Old Town Road or Olivia Rodrigo with her song Good For U which now have became two very relevant artists. Unfortunately people have abused this by creating songs which are planned to become a trending song on TikTok sort of like a TikTok industry plant. Some of the worse cases in my opinion are artists which are already massively famous and now are making it harder to become a relevant music artist like Drake or Justin Bieber. Then there's the other side of the argument that is that their just using the tools that they got and you can't blame them for wanting their song to be popular and then using effective method to make that happen. Anyway that's just my take on it what do you guys think?

I don't have a Tik Tok account. I did get a email about 6 videos on there I would like and I didn't open the email.

Following Tik tok music trends can be annoying because sometimes the crowds only know or want to hear the part that's used in the Tik Tok videos. I don't have a TikTok account but my wife does so I get to hear all of the songs on repeat. There are TikTok playlists on spotify and Apple Music that can help you keep track of what's currently hot. That combined with Tidal integration in Serato makes life easier. I do like the fact that TikTok will sometimes bring back an older song and make it cool to play again.

What's killing the industry is that there was a time when artist made some really good music that had meaning and they had real talent. That's long gone with a lot of the music being produced today. My 2 favorite groups of all times are Earth Wind & Fire and The Isley Brothers. Both groups became number 1 in the world at some time. They had real talent. Today a lot of what's being produced today is about making a quick buck and not about talent for a lot of them today. They are hot one minute and gone the next.

Talent is not the problem. It's the narcissistic self-absorbed diatribes that so many artists are trying to pass off as "art" that makes today's music suck.
