I go to help out a friend. He's having a cookout at his house. So I called him and ask could I bring my setup and play. He said fine. It was for the men he knows.

I bring my controller, laptop and effects machine. The first DJ plays for a couple of hours and had to leave because he had a job in Bethlehem Pa at 11:30 pm. No big deal. I know him. He's a great guy and did a great job.

He ask me was I ready to play. No problem. I play for a little bit and the people there are loving it. My friend gives me a thumbs up. A few minutes later he went and setup his laptop and starts playing. No biggie it's his house. He finished playing and had me play again. I get about 25 minutes and he has another DJ come in and play cutting my time short and the crowd is loving what I was doing.

I felt disrespected. What happened to letting me get a hour to a hour and half staight through and I'm done. Not this crap splitting my time up to play.? I didn't act out but I was highly upset.

Someone there gave me a great compliment and said I was going to piss some people off because how good I am. I thanked him for the compliment.

This other DJ that played after me was no better than me. I just didn't like the way my friend treated me and we've known each other well over 10 years. I'm in Wheequeaway Park for DJ Hutch birthday celebration. I will post a picture later of the setup. The sound is AWESOME! I will post about a couple of other times I was disrespected later.

According to you, your friend didn't ask YOU .. YOU asked him to play .. at that point he has all control. If you weren't asked to begin with, just go and listen .. no need to feed your exaggerated ego all the time.

I got a text message about the cookout saying you could bring your HD and I called him to ask is it OK for me to bring my setup. He said no problem. That's it.

If you have to ask someone to even be able to play, and then they cut your time, it couldn't be more obvious what they are trying to tell you.

You have to be able to read the crowd and read the customer. If you are not wanted, move on to someone you can help

Was he playing at the Sands (now Wind Creek) Casino? (about a mile from my house)
What's his name?

Last weekend I got to play some time with Bob Carpenter at an after party. It was his set up - and I was even using his laptop because he didn't have the USB A to USB B cable I would have needed.

I jumped on because he offered, and I was happy to do it. But it was his gig, his gear, etc. When he was ready to play... I moved and never thought twice about it.

If you're at a party with multiple DJs, it's very common to work in 20-30 minute sets.

It's actually fun to do it this way because someone else might have really cool ideas coming out of a song you play all the time. And they may take it left, where you would have gone right. And you'll learn something by what they do next.

Mix - for a DJ with no drama-free gigs... you have a MASSIVE ego. Try being a student again. Despite all your years doing this... you have SO much to learn.

I went camping Sunday night with a couple of buddies. I brought my Alto battery powered speaker and a thumb drive full of music. Before i got to take it out my buddy pulled out a bluetooth speaker about the size of my hand and put some music on. I sat around drank beer and ate steak and had a good time....Should I have been offended and felt disrespected?
