I was told this will be the last year for the Lincoln Park Festival.

For those of you participating in the Mixmaster Drinking Game... he said "Private Place Lounge" again... that's a shot of your choice and 3 sips of beer.

If I am forced/required to play, make my shot a Mind Eraser (to keep the playing filed level) and I'll chase it with a Full pint ...

I mentioned that place because even though it wasn't the most glamorous place around, it was a nice place to go to and for the most part a friendly place to go to. That place on the weekends used to stay packed. People partied hard in that place, young and old. Just sad to see it being torn down.
In the suburbs of Cleveland I grew up in, there were local beer joints/0(and churches) every few blocks. Old guys smoking cigarettes telling us young kids how good we have it.
Choices of beer were Miller/lite/Bud/bud lite/strohs/Pabst. Coors came later. The bars usually kept a few imports like Heineken, Molson, labatts for the few times a big spender would pass through. Chips and peanuts were on the menu, that's it. Entertainment was a bowling machine.

In 1985, Cleveland got its first microbrewery with Great Lakes Brewery. Now all of these places either make their own beer or sell microbeer from other areas. And make gourmet food too.

Things change.

I think I know the event you're talking about. Is it the Branch Brook Park event the last Saturday in August? If so I didn't say I wouldn't do the event. I told my partner recently if he doesn't get all the details we need to do the event I'm not coming. He told me he had this persons number. So if he doesn't contact this person to find out what we need to bring to make this event a success and just assumes things, I won't be there. I will be in Donaldson Park that day. That's in Highland Park, NJ. I told him this and I'm serious.

Isn't this the same as this?

I didn't discuss the location yet because there's no contract given to them to get the details. I'm sure it will be in the location as before.

It looks like it may not be the last one. They have a number you can text to donate money. It could be $1. They don't care. I noticed they don't have the same speaker setup that they used to have. It's not as much as in the past. 2 years in a row. Still great though. 12 JBL Line Array tops 12 subs I think. Very nice but not the same as before.

Obviously it cost a lot of money to pull this off. The MC said it's the largest festival in the area. Don't know about that but it's very big.

I am here right now for house music today. The DJs so far have been great. The park is packed! They have a number you can text to give a donation so they can have it next year.

The feature guests DJ is the legendary Timmy Regisford. He will be the last DJ to play.

Yesterday I got the best compliment ever since I've been a DJ. Possibly best compliment ever period. Someone asked was I going to be the special guest DJ today. Thanks for the compliment but I'm not that famous.

I'm getting ready to take some pictures in a few minutes. I will post them later and tell how my friend yesterday got shitted on. I came to hear him play and they did him dirty.

Don't you just love Moms ..

If the planners want more then 10 people there, probably best to keep you off the list of featured dj's.
Sir I will be kind even though you're trying to be funny, which you aren't! Nobody who comes there knows every DJ who will be on the stage. Only certain ones get top billing. If I got up there I know I would be the opening DJ and that would be fine with me.

Let me ask you this question. If they decided to have you on the stage how many people do you think would show up because it's you up there? I won't do what you did and give a smart answer like you did. Seriously do you think you would be the right DJ to do the event? I know I would be! Saturday deep house music, no problem! Do you even know what that is?

Why do you believe you'd be the opening DJ?

i think he is basing his theory on the examples and information you have provided us here....ie: your birthday "party" on the handball court... in which the turnout was very very sparce.

the assumption being...if a dj cannot drum up atleast a few family members to show up to their own birthday party/concert.... then how would that same dj drum up any interest in their slot at a festival.

First of all I wouldn't agree to play at an exclusive DEEP HOUSE MUSIC event. It's not my passion. However I could do an event that included some deep house and any other genre of music. Let's put something into perspective MR DJ MIXMASTERMACHOMAN. I moved away from the area that I grew up in on Long Island back in 1991, however I still have friends and family in that area. If I were to plan and promote a FREE birthday party in the park there 2-3 months from now, I could guarantee that I would have over 200 people there, no problem. You want to know why, because I have history there. As a matter of fact I could have planned a free event in the park that you had your birthday celebration in and had a better turn out then what you had, and I have never played music in that area. It's very obvious that you know how to talk the talk, but can't walk the walk. You don't have a following, your not a hot dj, you don't know how to promote, and I could go on and on. If you are really half the dj that you claim to be with all of your experience and mixmaster ability, you would have no problem promoting a party and having more then 10 people show up. I know that Deep House is very, very popular in your area, and according to you that is your specialty, so if you the MIXMASTERMACHOMAN can't get more then 10 people to show up, it might be time to hangup the headphones.

What say you?

Wrong again! That was not my birthday celebration. My birthday was on Sunday, not Saturday. When I planned that event I don't know other things were going on that day. I was given a great suggestion to do it on Sunday if I do it again. Less things going on Sunday's. I wasn't messed up how it turned out. It would have been nice if more people showed up. It was great just to get it done from where I come from.

As far as being the opening DJ at that festival or another one you take the slot and show why you should be further down the line in terms of playing.
