Before I take a beating for making this thread and people just think I like making threads just to make them I did this. I went into AT & T to get me and my partner new phones. I was there a few days before for something else. I don't remember what we were there for. I decided to check into getting another phone. I was told I can get a new phone by just paying the taxes on the phone and they would wipe out the payment for this month. I didn't have the money at the time to pay the taxes to get the 2 phones. So I waited till yesterday and found out to get the phones I had to pay the payment on the account first and then pay the taxes to get the phones. I couldn't get the deal because it was past the date for the payment.

I debated on getting the phones and then decided to just do it The promotion was buy one phone and get another one for free. Just that my partner has to pay $20 a month for the phone service. So it's a little over $30 a month for me to get the phone and it get paid off that way. That's including me paying to use the service. So I got a new Samsung Galaxy 10S +. The phone cost 1k. If some remember I said I would never pay 1k for any phone and I broke that rule. I got the plus because it's a little bigger then the one my partner got which is the 10. I don't have much on the phone yet. I just got the phone yesterday. So I got to get used to this new phone. It certainly is something else. One thing I learned the salesman said was to not download those apps that say they can help improve your phones performance. He said they mess up your phone. So basically I have the latest computer I can put into my pocket, make calls and do other great stuff. I remember my first cellphone was super big prepaid phone that I got tired of having to get those prepaid cards to use the phone. That phone reminded me of the shoe phone from Get Smart.

My how things have drastically changed over the many years. I remember if you wanted to make a call away from home and at a business you had to go to a pay phone and either use coins to make a call or call someone collect. Now we have phones that you can send emails with. What will someone invent next. Again I thought anybody paying 1k for a phone had to be out of their mind. I guess you can include me to that list. LOL. I will say lastly we went to the mall to get cases for the phones instead of buying them at AT & T. They rip you off in those places. I got a case with a screen protector for $30 and my partner got a case for $15. In the store it would have been much more. The case would have been more then what I paid for both at the mall.

Fyi... I think you're gonna find a few unpleasant surprises in your upcoming bill. First off... he probably forgot (purposely I assume) the upgrade fees on your next bill that you'll be paying which will be close to $50 per phone... secondly you should double check to see exactly what plan they put you on... bc there is no plan that includes a subsidized phone AND service for $30, let alone $20 a month. What they did is ADD the $30 to your EXISTING plan to subsidize the cost of the phone. Your phone was $1000 and the other was free. To recoupe the $1000 over 18 months they essentially added $50 to your plan (I think its gonna be $55), and smartly told you its $30 for you and $20 for your partner. Also, don't be surprised if your next bill is VERY high... that's because it's going to be prorated to pretty much be whatever is left of this billing cycle PLUS whatever your next bill will be PLUS about $100 in upgrade fees. So financially I advise you to be prepared. When he originally told you he could wipe the payment for this month... he was lying... you just wouldn't see it till next month when its combined with your next prorated amount. He couldn't use that line once you went past due as a payment was required to move forward with any phone purchase.

I used to sell cell phones for Att for 8yrs so I know how easy it is to take advantage of people, especially older ones, that don't quite know how the their plans and the upgrade process works. I hope I'm wrong... but be prepared for some surprises.

So let me get this straight, You first didn't even have the money to pay the taxes on new phones? Then you couldn't get the deal because you were already currently late on your payment? Then you get yourself in even more debt and most likely some type of contract by getting these two new phones? And I bet that you have absolutely nothing wrong with your old phone...... You can't make this sh&% up man.

What about getting those brakes fixed on the van, or the item that needs to be fixed to pass emissions? You really have your priorities in order Macho. Would you even have a roof over your head if you weren't living with your Mother?

The thing is I missed out on the promotion to have this months payment erased because it was after the time for the payment. So I waited till I could get the money for the taxes thinking I would get this months bill wiped out. I decided to go with the deal anyway after going outside. My old phone was runmning crazy. Things would just pop up while I would be on something else and sometimes while on a phone call. I know there is nothing for free. Eventually they will make up for it. You don't get something for nothing in the USA. At least not normally.

I bought a new stainless dishwasher & installed it myself last week.
We got a new washer&dryer a few months back, and I...............watched the guys deliver it and set it up.

A great deal is only a great deal if you actually NEED what you're buying.
And a great deal is NOT a great deal, just because a salesman told you that it is.
But it is really GREAT if you read it on the internets or in a deeeejay forum, right?

I bought a mount for my living room TV yesterday. The electrician is coming next week to install a surge-protected outlet on the wall.

Oh, and one of those Pro-X Mesa Media Facades showed up last night. Impulse purchase.

Gonna hang a big screen TV on the front of it?

Dude as @djtaso said you're going to be paying for that upgrade most likely through the nose. The plan and payments on the phone itself are separate line items on bills now. While it's nice that they no longer hide the price of the phone in a package deal salesman still BS you to make a sale. While your plan may only be $50 or whatever shenanigans the salesman ran on you. You're still going to be paying the price of the phone /24 on top of the plan. Say the phone is $1,000. You pay for it over two years (24 monthly installments) $1000/24 = $41.67/mo PER PHONE.

Just looking at AT&T's site the S10+ is $33/mo spread over 30 months (2 and a half years). Samsung Galaxy S10+ - Price, Specs & Reviews - AT&T - (https://www.att.com/buy/phones/samsung-galaxy-s10-plus-128gb-prism-white.html)

The reason your last phone was "running crazy" is because you install junk apps. You can and probably will do the same thing to this phone.

I have a Note 9 (last year's flagship) and even as a tech guy it's overkill. Majority of my time spent on it is internet browsing, Spotify, and texting. I can do that with a phone that costs half of what I'm paying for this one.

Just got me a Note 10+ in today (I preordered) nice phone I didn't need it but I like it other than it not having a headphone jack. Now I get to buy a few adapters to play music

Bluetooth all the way man at least for every day listening - wires are a pain in the rear when you're moving around. Pick up a BT headset off Amazon and give it a shot. I haven't used a headphone jack since using FM transmitters in cars. My Note 9's BT definitely sounds better than the iPhone maybe it's the Dolby processing? I'm sure the 10+ has it too.
