Wow, haven't visited here in awhile, and am soooo glad to see Rick has not been forgotten. Just a quick note, I have always been one to get the latest gear/technology, however I still hold onto Softjock DJ software (v5) as well as a few other DJs in the area.
Anyways it was time to get a new lappy (Dell) and I was forced to get Windows 11. At first everything seemed to work well. I put the operating system for this program in XP compatibility mode, just in case.
It was yesterday when I made a new playlist and discovered that the playlist tab (after creating a playlist) would not work. After experimenting with this I found out of if cleared the "history" tab it then populated the playlist folder (showing the new playlist as well as the old ones like it should of anyways). Opening and closing the program did the same thing. Basically it appears the once you create a playlist in the folder the internals do not do a refresh on the playlist folder as it should, thus forcing the software to do this via a restart or clear the history.
Do we have anyone out there that knows how to tweak Rockit Pro? I am not sure if this program is open code or not, or if there is a operating system tweak that can be done.
Best Regards,
Joncor

Welcome back Jon

I don't have answers for you but if I had to guess Rockit was written on XP and updated as far as 8 even in compatibility mode there could be issues. I use an older version of Mixmeister and have found a few small issues like that.

There are a few good IT guys here that can probably give better advice on this. Good luck

hi, i dont know if anyones come up with a workaround in prvate but ive just been thinking, what about usinfg a virtual machine such as virtualbox, seeing if theres a legit copy of winXP lying around or for sale-setting it up in virtualbox and then the DJ program within the VM? ive never used a windows system in VM so i dont know how sucessful they are-i was more of a linux and BSD kind of guy)-i know older DJ programs like old mixxx work great with my arch ;inux based laptop (installed fully on the hard drive, not a VM) and its also below minimum spec.
-i had a lot of driver issues in VM but somehow fgot them soerted.
ive used virtualbox a lot over the years for trying out different linux and BSD distros and ive only ever really come across a few VM driver issues on virtualbox, that was some years ago though so oracle have probably cleaned up there act since.

id also wonder if theres a linux based version of this program-as with many DJ programs they can be multi platform, if that wwas the case theres the possibility of dual booting something easy on your SSD to set up and use like ubuntu -i know users used to be able to easily see all the window partition files from things like the file viewwer,so thatd mean no need for dragging across your music library. i cant think of anything else for now, other than reverse engineering and patching and recompiling but is that ethical with another guys program? i dont code so ive no idea what the laws are around RE,i know of it happening threw gaming a lot-one example-team andromeda games who were bought out and shut down back in the nineties (they made sega saturn masterpieces- panzer dragoon 1/2/3) the code for the third was "lost"-but we have the first two sucesfuly REd and rebuilt which are on steam/nintendo switch. i had been hoping the third woud be remade but its really an ethical issue, fantastic game that i still own and play but other developers are making money out of the panzer dragoon name which i dont like-shoud be purely community driven. anyway sorry ill shut up.

I dual boot and run Linux via Virtual Box. I don't play around with the hardware side that much but I do have an XP Pro ISO just sitting in my cloud storage. Maybe can figure something out? I don't have a copy of Rock It to play around with though.

I think I still have mine I'll see if I can dig it up. Hank might have one too
