I might have an event to do for NYE.

The gear I bring often has little to do with what I charge. I'm charging for my time.

That doesn't really convey what you think it does.
The implication is that you work with gear that is readily available, cheap, and that anyone could operate - your labor therefore, "unskilled."

You may charge mostly for gear. I charge mostly for talent.

I use tools to help me get the job done. If for some reason I don't need to bring as many tools on a certain job, my fee won't decrease.

Let me add on to what you said. I like using high quality professional gear. That helps me with the work I do because it helps with your performance and the work you. Now when people say you did a great job, they don't realize they are also complimenting you on the gear you used. Now that doesn't mean because you have high quality professional gear that you will do a great job. Some DJs have great gear to use but suck as a DJ and then what about those who are great and just having a bad day at it.

I agree you shouldn't charge because of the gear you're using to do an event. You should be charging for what's needed to do the event, how many hours the event is, your talent and your time. Now I've seen some that their talent is only worth a $20 bag of weed and that's it. Some less than that.

Well, I'm done.
You have no reason to single me out like that. I was on your side!
Bob what's the problem? I never saw you DJ an event. I was talking about those I've seen. I remember my partner telling the story that where he used to live at somebody wanted him to do something. He said they would pay him $75. $40 in advance and $35 when he did the event. He said he didn't say a thing, he just kept walking. I went to see him one day and I saw what they got for $75. It was a hot mess. They got robbed, that's how bad it was. I was cracking up laughing. It wasn't even worth $40.

I thought you have given up using Mixy

Macho,
What the hell are you talking about? Every gig that you have posted on here your pay has been like $75-$125 after you split it with your partner and his girlfriend. Hell, sometimes you even lose money on gigs. And sorry to bust your bubble, but the gear that you are using is in no way considered high end. It’s average at best. A great dj can turn a party out on a shit system. You have it twisted broski.

how many gigs have you had in the last two years that you charged $500 or more?

Since you said it what the hell are you talking about?! His GF has nothing to do with what we get paid. I don't what if anything he gives her from the money he gets if any and it's none of my business. The last job we did which was the wedding, we both made $200.

Now onto something else that was said. I have gotten to do other events from doing the events for the fellowship for members. I remember a member got my number from another member to do her bridal shower. The person they contacted knew me and that's how she got to contact me. I agreed to do it. 2 issues that came up that was out of our control. We got there to setup for the event and the venue wasn't open. We had to wait till the person got there to open the venue. Another group of guys doing an event there had to wait with us. They were setting up gear to do an event in the big room. The venue was decent. It wasn't a high end venue. Just average but slightly above average because the room we were in had some nice lights in the ceiling.

The other issue is the guys doing the event in the big room brought in overkill for the event they were doing. I looked in and I know they were using at least 8 subs and 4 double 15's. It was an event with hookhas, strippers and they were selling booze. The sound was so loud it was kind of drowning out the 2 DSR tops we used. Now to be fair what they were using for speakers I believe was all JBL if I remember. That's one example.

Now let me ask everybody here this question. How much down time do you like to have before you have to start working an event? I'm talking after you've gotten everything setup, how much time do you like to have before having to perform the event? I asked this question because the person was late getting there to open the venue. So that tells me this is not a high class place because I feel the person should have been there way before we arrived with the venue open. I like at least 30 minutes. That way I can get dressed, relax, drink a Pepsi and pray.

I've operated largely on zero down time.
But, I always booked back to back gigs and even some that overlap.

Of course, these are the experiences I've actually had rather than postulated NYE gigs I "might get" as Zoom meetings.

Wow $200 and after taxes, gas, the new gear you bought you walked home with -600.00.

You are the one that has said in the past that she was given money. Either because she got you guys the job, or she used one of her apps or something to process a payment. I thought that maybe she was the promoter or something for your dj company.

That's one example of what? Not really tracking what you are saying right there good buddy.

While I have you here, when are you going to be doing that enlightening video on Facebook Live about the Plandemic. I think that this is only the third time that I'm asking this question.

I decided not to because on here it would be me doing and some people no matter who does them are going to believe everything the media tells them and stay in panic mode. Thus falling into the trap they're setting for people who are foolish enough to do it and that is rush and take the vaccine when it comes out. If they come to my house trying to force me to take the vaccine like I was told they are planning to do, all I know is they better bring as many body bags as there are people coming to where I live to give me the vaccine. If you get what I'm trying to say.

I'm foolish enough to take the vaccine.
No panic mode. Health mode. Being able to open the economy mode.

It makes perfect sense to me to give it to first responders/ health care workers first. Then hish risk people. I have no problem waiting until it's readily available.

Will it work? Probably. Will it certainly work? Nothing is certain. Are there risks? Of course...I just feel the risk is greater with not taking it.

I don't think they'll force anyone to take it. I think they may require a vaccine certificate to fly or to be certain places. I'm all for people's freedom who don't want to take it. But I can understand organizations that don't want to be sued because someone thinks they caught covid at their place.

Mixy would be first in line for the vaccine if the government was giving out a free subwoofer and/or a free dual wireless mic setup with every shot. He would be in line today if the above deal was available.

And for Mix to say they better send body bags if they send people to his house to force the shot is laughable at best. When I met him at one of his park extravaganza’s he could hardly get around. No fight left in that dog.

You're making a joke out of this but I'm serious. You can do what you want. I don't give a damn what they offer, I'm not taking that s***! I'm not taking something I feel I don't need and I'm not going to some free clinic to get tested so they can get my info to use as they please. Also I'm not helping billionaires who already have more money then their great grandkids will spend in their lifetime. I know they don't give a damn about me and I don't give a f*** about them. There's plenty more people out there who will rush and take the vaccine so they can get even richer. Also I don't know how people taking the vaccine is magically going to just open up things making the economy better. I say it's going to take more than that.
