I might have an event to do for NYE.

First off Jeff roght now I don't know how much they are wanting to pay. I will find out Saturday. Jimmy I have the tools to get it done I believe. My friend agreed to help me get it working properly. Like I said I did it once and it wasn't perfect. Just got to tweek things. If you or someone else knows how to do it I would greatly appreciate the help.

Oh I forgot Jeff one more thing. I won't be playing the whole time. They will have speakers and the idea is to have me play a little music between breaks with the speakers and then play for about 30 to 45 minutes to help bring in the new year. I will find out more on Saturday.
So .. all this effort and concern for an event you might get a couple dollars for?

I'm 99% sure I've got it and for any advice on how to do it on Zoom if someone on here knows how to do it.

Here's the crazy part. The crazy part is me being outside in December. No way! That's crazy.

So, you made a post to say you were offered a gig.
Then you realize it's outside in December, so you say "no way".
But yet, you're 99% sure you "GOT IT"?

What's the matter with you people?
99% sure he's outside in December for a Zoom event - ya know, like the weather guy down at the beach during a hurricane.

You go Mix. Keep it real, keep it chill.

I don't know how you roll, Whatever the pay is I look to do my best because I don't know who is there that might be looking for a DJ.

how much work, paying work have you ever gotten from a 12 set program?
Let me guess , non
the focus is not on you Mixy People could care less . The just would like to be able to hear the leads.

You are a heck of a negotiator. You agreed to do an event, but don't know the details and don't know how much it pays.
The best part is you agreed to all of this and they are still considering other options.

What does that tell you?

You are basically donating your time and they still aren't sure. They are CONSIDERING you?

Stop believing that any of these gigs are opportunities to find a client willing to pay decent money for an event .. If it's happened ONCE in the past 10 years, I'd be highly surprised.

Why don't you sit back, relax, and let some other schmuck DJ handle it and you just listen ...

First off you're not a member so watch what you say please. I've done plenty of events for them over the years. One committee at least 10 events and every time they have to pay whomever does an event for them. I know the details. I will just find out the pay on Saturday. For me I'm not consumed with the amout this time. Not a lot to setup like a regular gig where you have to bring speakers to setup and other things. The speakers will be just 2 small monitor speakers, controller, effects machine, 2 laptops and wires to connect things including a wired microphone. Oh I forgot a table too.

Why do you need 2 laptops and an effects machine for a virtual session? You need a computer, Usb mixer, controller and a monitor speaker. If there are speakers at this thing, you are going to play a total of maybe an hour and that isn't a straight hour. based on what you have said before you do not keep a large crowd after the speakers when you are doing one of these in person on a zoom meeting you will most likely keep none. That has nothing to do with you or your playing that is just how virtual DJ sessions have been going .Do not over think this if you do get it.

Maybe and then, apparently but predictably, only as a last, desperate resort.

The gear I bring often has little to do with what I charge. I'm charging for my time.
