I hope I can do the event tomorrow.

Taso can work any event, public or private - and I'm sure he'd see the same results.
You still miss the point I mentioned. I am selective as to where I agree to do an event and who it's for. I'm not that desperate for work. I deal with events where I'm going to feel comfortable doing the event. Truth be told there was a time it didn't matter. Now it matters a great deal to me today.

That's fine .. but then don't come here and complain about the lack of opportunities when you've just about painted yourself into a corner.

I'm pretty sure that 99% of the venues in NJ are in pretty safe areas... but the thing is you don't work in venues... you work in peoples backyards, and random rooms in bars or lounges.

Mix's policy is if there was ever an argument, fist fight, or Civil War battle he wont play there

I need to say I actually never was playing in a place where a all out fight broke out, someone got shot or killed. The closest I came to that was playing in the Private Place Lounge. Every once in a blue moon a issue would kick off. The people causing the problem would be quickly thrown out of the lounge and I could continue to play..

My partner was the one playing in dangerous places just to make money. One night he told me he was playing in a bar around the corner from where he lived at. He told me 2 fights broke out with these females on the dance floor knocking over a speaker. He said once things got settled he went back to playing. If that were me I would have packed up and been gone never to re

No I work in other venues as well. I haven't worked in a bar in about 2 years. I got burned out from the last place I worked at. I need to say that God blessed me dearly to not have been playing in a place where a big fight broke out, someone getting shot or killed. I just know about places where these things did happen.

My partner told me about a place he played in around the corner from his house where one night 2 fights broke out on the dance floor with these females. He said they knocked over a speaker. After things got settled he kept on playing. If that were me I would have packed my gear up and left never to return again. The next night he said someone got shot outside. Once that happened the owner stopped the DJ from coming in playing there. He changed things up.

Then there was the place I first met him at. I used to go there to hang out and saw him playing there one night. He told me he got the gig there because someone had him do a birthday party in there and the owner liked what he did. So he got him to play there Thursday and Saturday night. The place was a mess but all my partner could see is he was making money. The bar was on Sherman Ave. in Newark. At the time cheap prostitute druggies used to walk the strip. The owner allowed anything to come in the place. You would go in the bathroom and people would be getting high. Bottomline the last night he played there a big bar fight broke out. I wasn't there at the time as I was at the union Christmas party. I got there to check on him and the police were in the place. They let me in because I was his partner. The manager lied and said the fight was the DJs fault. The police knew that was a lie and said we see this all the time. Letting under age people in the place and eventually them starting trouble. The barmaid wasn't carding all those people coming in there and I didn'tr blame her. This thing was the owners fault. All he could see was how much money he was making and not looking at the mess that he was allowing to come in the place. I won't get into why the fight happend. Just know it did. Those are just 2 examples. I have more but I will save them for not making this post too long.

Let me say the only time I ran into just a little small issue was in the Private Place Lounge about 3 times. Nothing to serious. Some people might get into a little incident and it would get quickly handled by the staff getting those people out of there. Then I would resume playing. The owner ran things in way to do her best to keep those people out that she knew would eventually look to cause trouble. I got a request once to play a song by 2 Chanz. The owner quickly had me take that song off. I was so happy she did that because I didn't really want to play it in the first place. Again I'm careful where I do an event or work. Also today like I said I'm not desperate for work. If I don't feel comfortable doing an event or playing in a place I will pass it up. Another DJ can have at it.

But what’s the last actual venue you played at? As in actual banquet hall...

The theme song has to be a deep underground house version of this gem:

Honestly I can't actually remember the last time I DJed at a catering hall due to being put on the shelf with my health difficulties. The last event we did was in a Legion Hall in Rahway, NJ in January. I'm doing much better since the operation and ready to get back into the swing of things before having to have my right hip operated on. The doctor who did the surgery said in 2-3 years I will need the right hip operated on. Just wanting more work. Got things coming up in the future but not enough to get me excited.

My friend on Saturday needed to remind me I'm just coming back from the operation. So easy does it. I'm a recovering addict and I want what I want. Sometimes I need help from other people who love me to tell me the truth. Let me say this. My feeling is no need of having all this great gear sitting around collecting dust and not getting use out of it on a regular bases. I do need to remember I'm almost well. Not 100% but very close.

Last year was the worst year of my life. I was in constant pain all the time. Some days it was difficult to get to the bathroom. So some days there was no way I could get outside to do anything.

Have you worked an actual catering hall in the last 5yrs? Not one where you were a guest or taking photos or videos... but djd

Not anywhere specific. Just take them as they come..
I ask because it seems as your problems are a result of not doing work at actual banquet halls. You couldn't mention one banquet hall in the last 5 yrs that you were the dj at. It seems rather unusual that a dj of 20+ yrs can't recall a professional banquet hall that they've worked at.

Let me mention a place you hate for example. Galloping Hill Inn. That's one place. Snuffy's is another. The Atrum is another place but it's closed now.

But how often do you actually go to these places. Coincidentally they are some of the lowest of the low end banquet halls, but again a step up from the other locations you're asked to dj. You should try focusing booking events at those, than in random local neighborhood "lounges" and backyards.

I didn't really want to mention those places because I know you're not a fan of those places and as you said you will never work there again. I don't know about them being the lowest of the low. They may not meet your high standards but I certainly wouldn't call them what you said. They certainly not holes in the walls. Let me let it go before you have a fit.

When they charge 1/4 of what more sought after venues cost, to me that means they're on the lower end of the scale. Anyways, I even said they are better than some of your other locations you perform at. Just like you don't want to go to places where you gotta worry about fights... I don't like to go to places that can't accommodate my level of production. It's a slightly different issue to have.
