I hope I can do the event tomorrow.

The lady tells me she changed her mind and then calls me back at 3:30 asking where I was at. Her daughter changed her mind again. I wasn't rushing to get the rest of the gear to do the event and that's it. She apologized. I told her no problem.

My sister came by the house and opened a letter of mine and it was a check for over $600. I cashed the check and now I can get the breakes fixed and get the tooth pulled. Also I got a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. So it is what it is.

Who was the check from? I hope it wasn't one of those counterfeit checks that people have been sending out. Did you have to forward/wire any of the money anywhere? Mixmaster Cash Mule.

I have them sir. This was super last minute. I got the call yesterday saying the DJ they had canceled. So that's what happened. No rushing to get a contract signed and get a retainer.

This should have been a mute point if my partner got the relative that contacted him about doing a job on this day we would have been working. He tells me he contacted him and he didn't get back to my partner. Why should he wait for him to contact him back. My partner should have shown interest in getting the job. He used some jive excuse that I don't believe. I don't want to get into that.

I'm pro active. You contract me and I'm on it. I don't have time to wait on someone else to get back to me. They might be busy. So I need to show that I would like to talk about possibly doing the event for that person. That doesn't mean I will agree to doing the event. It just means we can talk about it. My aim since my health is better to get more work. That's where I'm at.

My girlfriend wanted to book me for a last-minute gig but I stubbed my toe and found a pot of gold in my basement, so fortunately I can fix my roof. Hired the contractor from McDonald's where I live. My partner ate all the fries though, don't wanna get into it right now. By the way I bought a Gateway 2000 PC with Windows 95 and a 56k fax modem.

You are relying on your partner to book events and your sister to open your mail. You need to figure out how to rely on yourself

Mix, you really need to minimize the partners in your life......they're a problem that you have complete control of......Start running your business and your life on your own......you'll be much happier. Just my observation.

No I'm not relying on him for bookings. He tells me someone contacted him about possibly doing some event. I don't know who these people are. So I don't have a way of contacting them myself. So he's supposed to handle it and normally nothing happens. No booking at all.

He just told me yesterday something so crazy. He tells me if things don't go through there's nothing he needs to tell me. Then try this. Don't tell me a thing about someone contacting you about possibly doing an event till it's confirmed. I'm going to tell him this because what he said makes no sense. I certainly would let him know if things are a go or not. I wouldn't leave him wondering if we have a job to do or not. I feel his ego is getting in the way of him making good decisions. He is a great DJ and that's fine. No matter how great you are you still have to work hard if you want to be a working DJ and not a non working DJ with great gear collecting dust.

My friend last night did a dance that he does yearly. He did a great job! I will post about it later. He did have to remind me I had some serious health issues to deal with that put me on the shelf for a while and I'm just coming back. So I got to remember as he said it's going to take time to get things back going again. In other words people weren't contacting me about doing events because at the time I was unable to do them.

I’m confused... in one part you talk about your partner who is the contact point for events. Then you talk about how you’ve been speaking to this girl at wawa about an event. So whose the contact point? If you’re not the contact point why are you speaking to the client? But then you talk about how people aren’t calling you for events bc if your health... which makes sense... but I thought it’s your partner they call. I’m so confused as to how your business is ran. I can only imagine what it’s like for people who actually are thinking of hiring you.

She works at White Castle and knows I DJ. It's a lady I'm interested in dating. She called me on Friday about possibly doing that event on Saturday. So it's a one day notice. The thing is the day of which was yesterday her daughter changed her mind about me doing the event and then changed her mind again about me doing the event. I got the call at 3:30. So no way was I going then to rush and get things together to do this. The thing is the lady had to be to work at 10 PM and she needed her rest as well. Besides that I knew there was no way we were going to be finishing up at 6 PM.

The thing with the partner is sometimes he gets people to contact him about doing an event instead of it being me. I just wish he would be more proactive about getting things done. In other words get to these people when they do contract you about doing an event and not waiting for them to get back to you because in his mind he's this super star DJ and they need me to do an event for them. No matter how good you are you still have to work hard if you want the booking instead of sitting on your butt doing nothing expecting people to just book you just because. Am I right on this one Taso?

I’m not sure if your business dynamics with your partner... in more focused on why your partner is brought up in this thread since he had nothing to do with this booking.

If you want my opinion on him... if he thinks he’s a superstar DJ let him go off on his own.,, bc the reality is you’re just a roadie to him. You don’t actually DJ and you’re not actually contacting the clients. He’s telling you about potential events to keep your calendar clear just in case. Heck I do it too when there’s a potential huge event... but my guys know that they’re my assistants... not the DJ. I think you have it confused or are not clear on what your roles are. So whatever your opinion is it doesn’t matter bc you’re not actually partners. If you wanna make changes you should break off on your own.

As far as this last minute event is concerned, you mention of higher paying gigs... so how much was this gig planning on paying...
