*Rant warning*

My RCF 18-AX subs that were back ordered finally came in. And I'm pumped to hear them and take them out for the first time.

Among the joy of unpacking new gear and getting excited to hear them... I started trying to put the case on them...

The sub basically has to be set on it's grill to put the case on, and then it is designed to be LEFT ON THE SPEAKER.

It's got all of this thoughtful stuff built into the velcro to allow the casters to stick out if you mount them. And you can get to the amp panel and all the cool features. But if you want a clean look of a speaker that isn't in a case... this is not the product for you.

I owned the QSC KW-181 for years which had a thoughtful case that easily went on after it was sitting on the casters. I've had the RCF Evox-12s which have a drop over cover. I didn't even consider that they would make a matching cover for this thing that couldn't be easily removed for performance and replaced for transport.

I'm still excited about the subs. But I'm going to have to figure out how to adapt the cover or get a custom one made that is actually useable for me. Super annoying.

Could you put casters on the back and put the cover on backwards

Everyone I know with them bought custom slip on ones. They too HATED the rcf ones for the nx14 and ax subs

I have the casters ordered, but the holes for the casters are on the side that doesn't open. So I'd have to either cut caster holes in the "Front" to make that work, or remove the normal seam and add a zipper/velcro on that side.

I assume these were included? My EVs came with no case. I had to pay an extra $200 for a pair of slip-on covers. I really think the manufacturers are missing the boat by not including such a basic item, especially in light of the price being paid for the speaker.

Definitely not included. I paid for it.

That item is not a case.
It's a condensation/rain cover for when the speaker is being used outdoors.

There is a certain point in the equipment chain where products cross from the retail segment (DJs, local musicians) to touring class. Your product is likely sold with the unstated expectation that trailer standard touring cases of you own preferred design is how these cabinets would travel.

This cover you describe is what you use if your speaker is going to remain on an outdoor stage for days at time.

Albotross let me ask you this please. Do you still have the QSC subs or did you sell them and why did you buy those RCF subs?

Adrian please check your pm’s here, your text messages, and voicemail on the number you have listed for your business. Tried hitting you up on all those yesterday.

When you add let’s say $25 to cost of production and multiply that by 10,000 units it’s changes your profitability quite a bit, plus I bet it’s a 50/50 split and who wants a cover installs certainly don’t. There’s probably a forum some where with guys complaining about speakers that come with included covers they don’t need

I outlined this in more detail in another thread here: https://ourdjtalk.com/djchat/new-speaker-set-ups/

I sold my QSC Sub in 2021. I was using the RCF Evox primarily and didn't need it.

But I upgraded because I wanted something more modular, that can get louder, and also hit lower frequencies than the Evox-12 set up can.
