I got a text message from someone saying they could get a website on the first page of Google for $300 a month. I text them back and asked are you serious? If I had a website up and running why would I pay someone $300 a month to get my website on the first page of Google? That doesn't even sound right. Why would someone pay them to do this?

Because if your not on the first page of a google search you won’t be seen

It is called marketing. That is part of running a business. These are things that would be in your business plan and you would know about. Hell these are things I do for my non profit girls softball association.

Why wouldn't I want to be the first thing that comes up when people are searching for a service? The first thing someones sees is normally the first thing they click on therefore the more traffic to my website. If you are on page for no one is going to see your site.

Nothing you have been told over the last 10 years has sunk in, you just ignore everything people tell you.

Would you pay $300 for this service?

Yes, I have. It is called part of doing business but again when you dont have any or buy gear that isn't needed for jobs that dont exist you really dont have a business.

Would you pay $300 for this service?

Because showing up on the first page of Google is very difficult to accomplish. And you can make a lot of money if you accomplish it.

If you type in "DJ" into google, you will get MILLIONS of results. Google ranks those results to show what they think the most relevant answers are. Most websites won't ever get anywhere near page 1 on a broad search term.

But if your website showed up for everyone in New Jersey that searched for "Book a DJ" you could make tons of money.

$300 would actually be very cheap for this if they could really accomplish it, but they likely can't. Certainly not on a broad term like that.

Please help me understand how they do it to make it worth paying them $300 a month? Even if they are able to do it, you will need a very attractive website that says book me. What I mean is when they see it they want to contact you right away and not hesitate.

If you were booking 4 gigs a month at an average price of $1,500... would it be worth it to spend $300 per month on marketing?

That would be a business earning $72,000 per year, and spending $3,600 on marketing. Just 5% of revenue.

For the same reason a full page ad in the sports section of a newspaper
costs more than a 3" x 5" ad in a less popular section.

Also, part of the "service" they provide for $300 a month,
is re-vamping your website to include words, phrases and other items...
so it appears on page one of a Google search.

For you, it most likely doesn't make sense. For those with an actual business, it might.

Pay me $300 one time I will do what they do for you. I won't get you to the first page but in your market they likely won't either

$300 month , sound reasonably if your Google ranking produce.
Back in the day, yellow pages in the capital city cost almost twice as much a month with a year contract.

Why would you ever text this random number back? It's most likely a scammer on the other end. And guess what? You've confirmed to them that their is some clown on the other end that is willing to entertain the bullshit they are talking about. Next you will be on here talking about how you are out of money because you gave these guys your credit card number. Didn't you just have a run in with scammers a month or so ago. You just don't learn, do you?

I never looked them up or gave them any of my info sir. I wasn't interested since right now we don't have a website up online.
