How will most people judge a system? Lets suppose there are 5 DJs in a room/Ballroom/EventHall, each with his/her own system. There is an audience that has to rate them for overall performance. What do you think will be the determining factor? There are four options listed. I have left out weight/ease of transport because if I was a judge I would not care about that and I don't think others would either. (That is a DJ only issue and not a selling point)

Sound clarity or tone will usually be the telling factor. :)

Although I cast my vote for Sound/Clarity.... Coverage is also very important and there fore if it were multiple choice I'd have to say both were equally important to the equation of what sounds the best to me.

Ahhhhh! But you were only able to pick one candy from the jar!

"How would a CLIENT rate a system",not you.

in my opinion,a client just wants good clear sound basically.for the most part they dont know a bose different from a xxx no name equipment(most of them).

Proper "tone" damn Fred, I've been assimilated ;)

I'll comment on that in an appropriate time. Let more people chime in first. if I forget, remind me. Also lets leave out mentioning Brand names here for the moment!

Well that might be debateable..... but, I also didn't choose name brand because in a blind test the client being unable to see the name wont care.

Thank you! Lets continue!

Geez....

Depends on who shows up. But if they are going to "judge" anything, the will start with their eyes, not ears.

So I'm guessing brand first. They'll walk up and try to recognize it visually, THEN if it sounds ok ,they'll feel better know they know the brand.

Stupid huh? But it makes sense to me.

NOW IF 5 DJ's walk in a room and had to run to their favorite system, it would be based on sound!

BTW, I run a bunch of crap tech gear nobody knows or cares about. Fortunately I blind them with my lighting so they don't have time to "judge" me!

Rob,
Remind me to comment on that statement too!

It would depend on what type of client is there.

A Bride and Groom are going to judge one way.

A school client will judge another way.

A Corprate client might even judge another way.

So if I was one of the 5 DJs in the room, I would want to know who you are going to invite.

If you are inviting them all, well I would have to pick a system that I thought would be the one that would have the most cross over appeal.

So before I could vote, I would need to know more.

Good grief Chuck! Don't dissect the damn thing! LOL Audience was pulled randomly from lets say the street, ok! LOLOL

Brah, I am not trying to be a pain, but it really matters, me personally I would vote for LOUD because I like good LOUD music.

But just like here a random group of people off the street are not going to agree and it would be a wated effort.

But asking what would a client look for, I can't vote, because as I said, they would look for different things...

A bride might like the sleek tower look of a system, but my 500 kid school dance client wants a big asss massive system,,, so how am I gping to vote here intelligently?

Chuck presents a good point......BUT IF THEY WERE COMPLETE STRANGERS.....wwyd?

Sincerely,
the devil

JT don't make me unchain the Pitbull, Hyar! Be cool!

I voted clarity, but that is just so I don't annoy anyone, and I see it is the most important....I don't really agree, but I will let it go...
