I looked at my Calendar. Right now I have $0 worth of sales in May, and $0 worth of sales in June! ...And this is after a record setting $0 in sales for April!

I think things are going well! Definitely a busier year than previous years. You should always be growing sales as a DJ as time marches on in the Wedding industry! :thumbsright:🤑🥃

I think I'm going to need a few drinks this weekend. I use the term "few" loosely.

Ive still have one booking for mid May... prepaid... just waiting on the postponement at this point.

Which state... who knows georgia and some other states may be having weddings by then. One thing I noticed is there are still a handful of states that never shut down. Just curious if those weddings still took place.

it's WV which honestly is shut down...but has far less cases than most others... but the governor seems to be airing on the side of caution so far with no big announcements of entering phase 1... and im fine with that... Im an essential worker and my wife works from home.

Once this all starts, I'll be looking at record setting months... but until then... ZERO. I am doing well with booking events though. Since Mid March, I've booked 7 events, and hopefully after tomorrow's meeting, an 8th event. So at least there are deposits coming in.
At $300/each, that's not a lot of money. ;)

$0.

I'm generally trying to stay positive, but I'm pretty bummed out about how this DJ year is going to end up.

July 3rd is my next booking that hasn't moved yet - but I expect it will. And I'm not confident in August either.

I'm in the zero dollar category too. July 18 is my next one and he's sitting on the fence

$0.

I was for a few days now I thought about it a bit and I did around 110 dates last year between the bar and private gigs maybe a break might not be all that bad it may rejuvenate me a bit. That's not to say I won't miss the revenue though

I'm really surprised how few DJ Equipment/DJ Software/DJ Music Posts we have had here at ODJT during this period, when supposedly people have more free time than normal - and this includes myself. Perhaps ODJT should be renamed WDJWFM - We DJ Weddings For Money. Not even a peep about Rekordbox 6, which I hope fails, but if successful might be a game changer.

I realize this is some what unfair since I'm older than most, and in a Life position where I don't think about money. None the less, it seems unusual to me.

Other than the time I've spent in SoundSwitch working on my lighting programming... I haven't had a need for anything new.

And admittedly, I'm probably behind on music. Most of my music discovery happens in the car.

But I definitely won't spend any money on gear until cash starts flowing again. Right now, I'm actually trying to find someone that might be interested in a lease on my van for a while so that it's not costing me so much sitting in the driveway.

Not gonna lie... I'm pretty on top of music ingeneral, especially with all my teen events... but the reality is, even that's grinding to a halt, as artists are holding off on releasing some songs... and people simply aren't posting as much.

As far as gear goes.. with everyone not working events, not having to replace equipment, and not thinking of spending money on equipment that they don't even know when they'll get to use. Now if you're a new dj trying to get into the industry... now is the PERFECT time to buy... so many great deals to be had.

We are potentially looking at no more serious events for 2020. Experts on TV have said that any type of event/gathering with 1,000+ will not be happening in 2020. They have also said no Concerts until Summer of 2021...Some say Fall of 2021.

So the first phase of the reopening in each state is suppose to follow these guidelines, or something very close to this. This phase is suppose to last 30 - 60 days as long as there is no resurgence during this phase. Note at the bottom, No gatherings larger than TEN PEOPLE. Also BARS ARE CLOSED. .....Assuming most states open into phase one on June 1st...just a guess. That puts us out until Mid July to August 1st before we enter phase 2.

Phase One
For States and Regions that satisfy the gating criteria
INDIVIDUALS
ALL VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS should continue to shelter in place. Members of households with vulnerable residents should be aware that by returning to work or other environments where distancing is not practical, they could carry the virus back home. Precautions should be taken to isolate from vulnerable residents.
All individuals, WHEN IN PUBLIC (e.g., parks, outdoor recreation areas, shopping areas), should maximize physical distance from others. Social settings of more than 10 people, where appropriate distancing may not be practical, should be avoided unless precautionary measures are observed.
Avoid SOCIALIZING in groups of more than 10 people in circumstances that do not readily allow for appropriate physical distancing (e.g., receptions, trade shows)
MINIMIZE NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL and adhere to CDC guidelines regarding isolation following travel.
EMPLOYERS
Continue to ENCOURAGE TELEWORK, whenever possible and feasible with business operations.
If possible, RETURN TO WORK IN PHASES.
Close COMMON AREAS where personnel are likely to congregate and interact, or enforce strict social distancing protocols.
Minimize NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL and adhere to CDC guidelines regarding isolation following travel.
Strongly consider SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS for personnel who are members of a VULNERABLE POPULATION.
SPECIFIC TYPES OF EMPLOYERS
SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZED YOUTH ACTIVITIES (e.g., daycare, camp) that are currently closed should remain closed.
VISITS TO SENIOR LIVING FACILITIES AND HOSPITALS should be prohibited. Those who do interact with residents and patients must adhere to strict protocols regarding hygiene.
LARGE VENUES (e.g., sit-down dining, movie theaters, sporting venues, places of worship) can operate under strict physical distancing protocols.
ELECTIVE SURGERIES can resume, as clinically appropriate, on an outpatient basis at facilities that adhere to CMS guidelines.
GYMS can open if they adhere to strict physical distancing and sanitation protocols.
BARS should remain closed.

The following is PHASE 2. This state will be implemented as long as the virus appears to be just about eradicated, very low new case numbers needed to enter this phase within the state. This phase is expected to last 90 days after phase 1, but could be shorter. That puts us into October to November. Note that it mentions no gatherings LARGER THAN 50 people during this phase. ...THAT MEANS WEDDINGS WILL EITHER BE POST PONED, CANCELLED, OR COUPLES
WILL CHOOSE TO HAVE A VERY SMALL EVENT with under 50 people total in the room (I assume that will mean catering staff, other vendors as well!

Phase Two
For States and Regions with no evidence of a rebound and that satisfy the gating criteria a second time
Social settings of more than 50 people, where appropriate distancing may not be practical, should be avoided unless precautionary measures are observed.
NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL can resume.
EMPLOYERS
Continue to ENCOURAGE TELEWORK, whenever possible and feasible with business operations.
Close COMMON AREAS where personnel are likely to congregate and interact, or enforce moderate social distancing protocols.
Strongly consider SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS for personnel who are members of a VULNERABLE POPULATION.
SPECIFIC TYPES OF EMPLOYERS
SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZED YOUTH ACTIVITIES (e.g., daycare, camp) can reopen.
VISITS TO SENIOR CARE FACILITIES AND HOSPITALS should be prohibited. Those who do interact with residents and patients must adhere to strict protocols regarding hygiene.
LARGE VENUES (e.g., sit-down dining, movie theaters, sporting venues, places of worship) can operate under moderate physical distancing protocols.
ELECTIVE SURGERIES can resume, as clinically appropriate, on an outpatient and in-patient basis at facilities that adhere to CMS guidelines.
GYMS can remain open if they adhere to strict physical distancing and sanitation protocols.
BARS may operate with diminished standing-room occupancy, where applicable and appropriate.

...Now I try to be optimistic as possible about my scheduled events occurring in July, August, September, and October...BUT...Judging from this info on how the reopening will look, and how long the phases are expected to take to get through. ...It really doesn't look good for the Wedding industry for the rest of the year.

...Time to make that Double Bacardi and Pepsi I have been waiting to drink all day 🥃 ...and play some tunes
