I just recently got asked at the last event we did do I deal with Cash App? I have it on my phone but never used it till then. I just recently got told about it by my partner and his GF. So they signed me up. I hadn't gotten the card yet. It said it was delivered 20 days ago and I never saw it. So had to say the card was lost or stolen so they can send me another card.

This stuff is brand new to me. I'm used to getting paid either in a check or cash. My partner had a card so we got the money that night. At least I got what I was to be paid.

Just another crazy way to do business today. At least it's crazy to me. I'm old and I like doing things the old school way. Got to get used to it. UGH!

Mix , You ever take credit cards?
Most all of my events are paid in full two weeks before with a 50% holding fee/ deposit at the time of the contract sighing . Any overtime fee is paid cash before I go over.

Use square, Venmo, or PayPal... it goes straight to your checking/business account. No need for some completely unnecessary card
Taso I'm just going by what they setup for me to be able to take a payment at an event or before hand. Like I said I'm used to doing things the old fashioned way.

I am headed to Atlantic City the day after Christmas. I will happily take Casino Vouchers and Credits as part of my payment from any clients who want to book me for a event THIS WEEKEND! :)

Overnight get away trip while I have time off from work!

Cash App is owned by Square... it used to be called Square Cash but they dumbed down the name of it to avoid confusion with their merchant-service business.

You can have your Cash App balance transferred to a bank account without using their special card. My guess is that they offer the card because so many of their users don't have bank accounts.

If you are running a business you are the one who should be specifying how & when you expect to get paid on your contract. I can’t even see using something you are not familiar with or don’t understand.

That event was 2 days notice and I was sick the entire week. So I wasn't really focused. Thanks all. I didn't think to ask how they had in mind on paying us. Will remember that for the next time.

I'm similar to Taso - I use Square for my invoicing. I'm willing to use PayPal or Venmo. I'm also willing to accept checks and cash, but it's getting more rare these days.

Most of my payments this year were done through Square.

Most of my restaurant/bar gigs pay with Cash App now. it's either that or a check. I've also had a couple of wedding clients pay by Cash App. It works just like PayPal. You can do instant transfer to your bank account for a small fee or wait a couple of days for a free transfer. The card is an easy way to get access to the money for people that don't want to wait to get the free transfer or don't have bank accounts. I rarely ever use the card. It was a novelty at first but not very useful.

If you don't want to pay the service fee, you can go to Quick Chek. No surcharge at their ATM.

Does this cash app work with credit cards? I primarily use square because of the request to pay by credit card, and because I can send an actual invoice. Paypal I like because I can still send an invoice, and let them decide if they want to pay by checking account or credit card. While I avoid venmo as it's not really meant for businesses, I still prefer venmo and paypal as they require verified checking accounts. I'm a little iffy on a service that allows usage without verified accounts.

I prefer PayPal only out of familiarity. I've been using PayPal for invoicing for years. In practice I'll take any form of payment that doesn't cost me much more than PayPal (percentage wise). I recently installed the Cash app for a friend to pay me for some hardware I'd ordered on his behalf. I wound up getting their debit card as another tool to protect my real debit/account numbers when making purchases. Fees seem reasonable even cheaper than PayPal in some respects.
