How clean is your setup?

Stage presence is a set that clearly says you're there to ENTERTAIN. Technically, we could completely retreat from the space and DJ from inside the nearest closet - and some setups look like that's what some people are trying to do.

I don't want to be confused for the reservation or reception desk. I want it to be clear form the first glance what my role is. I no longer do all of the glam that Taso brings but, I do occupy space much as a live band would do in order to make it clear that we are here for a party and dancing - not a seminar.

Backup is one thing... REDUNDANCY!!!... That’s what I was into. Ah... those were the days. Now my systems have been somewhat dismantled. You don’t need redundancy, backups, or reliability if you’re just a hobby DJ.☹
Why don't you need those things no matter what kind of DJ you are?

Ross, that white curved facade....stunning and unique!!

Thanks! The spandex wraps for it aren't very expensive either, so I can get different patterns for that same frame. The planners I work with seem to appreciate that I have options that can blend into their decor and design styles.

Looks good, but I think I'd get rid of the ProX sticker facing the dance floor!

There is a sub-reddit for stuff like this - r/djsetups
Here's an example that I think is using the same controller -

Absolutely, I hate that they put it on there. I wish it was a sticker as it is a metal plate and if you take it off, then there is a big hole. Already have gaffers tape covering it now..

The starting price for sound only for 4hrs is $2500 w the average wedding I do being closer to $3500... for my area that starting price is 3rd or 4th highest in the state. The top 3 are all celebrity djs... sooo for now gotta be humble. I plan to go to $2750 next... but that would be too big a jump too soon from my previous price increase.

Im a little confused as to what you’re asking... I have two controllers for two different set ups. The one w the facade, the controller is in the coffin/road case and goes on top of a table. For the podium, the white part that houses the controller ispreconfigured and has its own case... about 80lbs. The vertical podium part that connects the white controller housing to the base has its own road case as well.
I’m gonna try and take pics at the next event if I remember.

I am asking about your DJ Table, what you call a podium. Sorry, just hate that word :) Reminds me of a conference with someone speaking or giving a lecture. HAHAH.

Ya, definitely take a pic of the cases that hold your podium including the table part. It's the main reason I don't have one as I don't currently have the transport space but I freaking love the DJ Furniture look. Jealous!

But what controller do you have behind the facade? Are you referring to the lighting controller?

Your turn to share.

lol, I want pics of the road cases you use to transport the DJ Table--What you call a podium.

Unrelated, I was then just asking what specific controller you had hiding behind the facade?

How clean is your setup?

I was gonna say "clean enough to eat off" but that would be antagonistic as I'd have to argue with myself whether I should ever be working & eating...so I won't say that.

For weddings and all private/corporate events, I enjoy operating from an approachable performers site:

Yeah Ross, I am going to echo what he said.

Who makes the curved facade ?

Here is one on Ebay from a seller named Fit Beat Audio RB017481007

The one that Ross has is being sold by DJ Brian Howe. http://djbrianhowe.com/curved-dj-facade

It seems like it takes some time to put together and tear down judging from all the PVC pipes you have to bring in and set up then wrapping the scrim around. I like the look, but I prefer kind of a Turn Key solution for facade or Table Top Facade.

Ok, I must admit, I am showing off here, but I also take great pride in offering a very clean, streamlined, but tech-heavy "package." I honestly don't of another DJs setup that is this clean for gigging at weddings.

During Covid, I made some adjustments (no more table) and am absolutely loving this setup. I have only done a handful of gigs this year, but I have never had so many compliments from vendors and venues. It feels good to be noticed before I even perform.

I would like to thank this forum among a couple of others and FB groups to spark ideas of not only what to do, but not want to do, even if subjective. It's a great time we live in where we can all share our ideas and learn from each other.

Comments, questions, feedback?

I saw one the other day that I think beats your set up in terms of minimal space. It also SCREAMS Stage Presence! :)

So, the one I ordered came from Milin Displays. Lisa Milin is on facebook and I literally ordered it direct from her through messenger.

The cost of the items are very low, but shipping was expensive from China. So if you can bundle your order with anyone else local, it's ideal. And I ordered 2 scrims but would have done more.

And @DJ Ricky B is right - It's basically a thin PVC frame that clicks together. It travels very light and small which I like. Versus my Dragonboard which sets up pretty easy, but is huge and heavy. If space is a concern at all this one is great.

Pattern wise, the list is huge so any look you want you can basically build. And it doesn't have to be the shape I bought, they have other shape options.

The issue I found with what I bought is the width. A 6 foot table will not tuck in behind that size, it's right at 6 ft wide. So I bring a 4 ft. folding table with me when I'm using that facade. So that adds a bit of work to make sure I get the look I want.
