Actually it is based on experience and information...which most consider mind expanding.

What experience???... What information??? Here’s your post...

Just an FYI - Avante products are simply rebranded/otherbranded American Audio/ADJ stuff.

IMHO, that indicates it is equivalent to most low end dj audio gear. For clarification, in this context, "low end" would be slightly higher than Harbinger/Beringher.

... I seen nothing but a judgement based solely on brand name in that post. If you have “information” or “experience” with the product... let’s see it!!!... or go back to sleep!!![emoji1]

So, JBL is now a Samsung company ...
...and if & when I gain knowledge and evidence, from either personal experience and/or trusted advice/recommendations/opinions, that the parent relationship has detrimentally impacted the quality of JBL's products, I'll re-evaluate and report accordingly.

My knowledge and experience with ADJ/AmericanAudio products supports my opinion as stated above.

Your need for details from my experience and knowledge doesn't register on my "must address"/aka "givashit" meter.

But to provide you with some salve for your apparent offense and as an FYI, I have owned, used, and been advised against reliance on ADJ, American Audio, Elation branded gear...and I have judged them accordingly and apparently in direct conflict with your judgement...or lack of willingness to do so.

For the same experience and knowledge based reasoning I would not purchase or rely on gear from Behringer, Gemini, Numark or any of the Chinese knockoff brands but you are free to vehemently identify with your brand gear and spend your pennies as you see fit.

Avante is run separately from American Audio and they made that point quite evident at the show the past 2 years. All I can say is based on personal listening, I find them to be a very good value in the space occupied by the likes of the JBL PRX, the EV ELX/EKX, the Yamaha DXR, etc. Even Behringer has some products I would easily recommend over many I would not.

The Bose S1 is a good option... theoretically. I find it hard to believe it could sound as good as some of the larger options, but I’m open-minded about it. Guess I need to get a hold of a pair and try them out.

I’d be curious to know about the size of venue (sq. ft.) and crowd size with which you’ve successfully used the S1’s?
It would be impossible for me to say how they'd compare as I've not used the others. I wouldn't use these at a hall. Maybe a very small one. I've used them for ceremonies, cocktail hour, retail, backyard. They are crystal clear.
I'm using 2 of them at a company party outside in a park for about 100 people this Saturday 4-7. I don't need loud thumping music for this. Doubt there will be much dancing. Some kids games, announcement, etc

For a house party, they'd be great. For a hall, not so much. Their benefit is being so small and battery powered, they are so easy to move and set up while sounding very good. But if you are trying to compare them to full sized speakers, you'll be disappointed.

Cap will offer you a money back guarantee. I wish all companies had the same confidence.

Is the place where I react with phony outrage and attack you and your opinions?

Or is the part where I soothe my damaged feelings by calling into doubt your opinions because you didn't draft a lengthy essay or provide a resume' detailing and proving your alleged personal experiences and knowledge?

[SARCASM]Asking for a friend. A really dumb, weak, pitiful friend.[/SARCASM]

Just saying opinions based on "advisement" and stereotype generally don't match up to those based on fact and first hand knowledge .. you can tell your pitiful friend that ...

Basing one’s opinion on any one product from a company based on one bad experience with another product from said company at some other time is at best illogical. I don’t base my decisions on emotion. If I took that approach, I would buy ALL my gear from American Audio because my VMS 4.1 has been such a GREAT controller.[emoji1] I look at each and every unique product as just that... a unique product.

Here ya go, from the same post

So what you’re saying is it’s YOUR OPINION (based on some unidentified past use of some unknown ADJ product) and that of some unnamed random adviser???[emoji1] Yeah... Like I said; “Ya got NOTHIN’”![emoji1]

I've been inside a VMS 2.0 controller - it's built like a tank. My 36 year old son's oldest piece of equipment (who's been DJ'ing since getting out of diapers) is an American DJ "Shredder" mixer - still works and also built like a tank.

There are too many variables today to make blanket product recommendations based on name only. For example, Apple and Nikon both had high circuit board failure rates with their early forays into low lead content based solder. A Japanese company like Sony now has manufacturing plants in many countries, and unless you spend BIG DOLLARS on training, monitoring, and quality control - like Apple has done in China with the iPhone - you are rolling dice. Open up anything today - name brand or otherwise - and see where the parts come from!

I heard the Avante speakers a few of times at the DJ Expo & and other events. At low volume the speakers sounds good, the pricing was very very reasonable. But their max SPL was very low. Nowhere in the range of something I would be using as a main line speaker. But for other uses they would likely be fine. But one of the biggest thing I look for with any item is, who is currently using them, how are they using them, who is recommending them, what are their credentials and lastly some good old common sense.

... BUT this is for HOUSE PARTIES!!![emoji1] I saw the SPL stats, but I’m not looking for speakers to DEAFEN the party goers. If I bought the Avante’s or Bose S1’s or whatever, I’d be using them for small groups of people. I doubt if I’d even have to turn any of the options I’m considering up to their MAX volume level. If they aren’t loud enough, I have three EVOX-8’s.[emoji4] I’m looking for something to scale down. When I need something to scale up, I’ll get Mix’s advice.[emoji1]

What I gave is just a general impression of the speakers not a specific recommendation for house parties. I did say for other uses they would be fine. I do however have a different Philosophy on speaker systems, I want them to be scalable and/or arrayable. One system, multi uses and size capabilities. Now I don’t do many house parties anymore but they usually run long & do get loud at times. But nothing like the old days were we used to vibrate the glasses off shelves. Happened at my wife’s parents house before we met when I was doing a party for her sister. I kept hearing glass breaking, it turns out we were vibrating glasses off the shelves behind the bar .I was using Cerwin Vega V30s at the time, loved those speakers. I still remember the day I picked them up. Great memories

No... I get what you’re sayin’.[emoji4] When I do house parties, they usually ARE NOT loud raucous events with WILD TEENS bouncing off the walls. I do events for older, usually well-to-do people and most of their guests are of a similar ilk. When kids are included, they generally have organized activities for the kids. I do 2-3 of these a year. All of them have been referrals, or clients who attended another one of my events. The music is not played so loudly that it becomes overwhelming. I know my EVOX-8’s are too much in most cases, so I’m looking for something I can use to scale down with.

That’s the way my VMS 4.1 is. It’s gotta be one of the better constructed pieces of DJ gear I’ve ever seen. Not only that, it’s EXTREMELY reliable and perfectly functional. It may be the best purchase I’ve made as a DJ. Using that controller gave me the confidence to move try more complex mixing techniques and controllers with more features.[emoji4]
