I have not had any requests, and the only place I have heard about this song is on the internet.

With that said, I have only had ONE request for Old Town Road, and it was like 6 weeks ago. I did not get around to playing it though. I think my clientelle typically isn't into country, so it is unlikely their guests will want this stuff. Old Town Road has like 350 million plays on Spotify.

If they were they wouldn't want Old Town Road ;)

LOL....im not a fan of Old Town Road at all... but there's no denying its popularity...the fact that you arent getting requests for it speaks of your clientele... if they chose you they probably arent into things that are relevent or trendy...lol...i kid...i kid     :humble: :humble: :humble: :humble:

Up to #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 ...

This song is WAAAAAYYYY more pleasant to listen to than Old Town Road. That song sucks. I hope this one replaces it, or OTR just goes away. I've only had to play it once. Not yet played this new one.

I FULLY AGREE!!

i do have an edm version of old town road that is tolerable...and lots more danceable!

If you read some articles, he says if it were not for OTR, his song might not be where it is. OTR paved the way for him.

oh i have no doubt....otr started a whole movement.... but the Git Up truely is a better song...

side note...my instagram is full of people doing this challenge...and dj's playing this...

its happening

If "Old Town Road" were Mambo No. 5, "The Git Up" would be the equivalent of "The Ketchup Song" by Las Ketchup. Catchy, danceable, but not even a close competitor.

yesterday i did a poll on my instagram story about it...asking if people dig it...know the dance...etc.... had a lot of very random people from all parts of the country seem to know and love it.... his numbers keep zooming up... 13 mil right now... i think he was under a 100 thousand when i posted this thread

ps- the ketchup song...uggh....lol

I haven't had any requests for it yet, but i've played it at 3 or 4 dances now and everyone really seems to love it and want to learn the dance. I've been focusing on the 4 basic moves he teaches in his video (the step over, the 4 kick outs, the butterfly and the two step). I've had people from teenagers to people in their 80s wanting to know who does the song

yeah....we as dj's used to educate and break records....its a shame so many of us now are so scared to play anything that isnt a proven floor filler....im guilty of it too.... in my club days i remember getting records from the record pool and dropping them weeks...sometimes months before they hit radio... fueling their success to become mainstream tracks...

i come from radio DJ work first, so I'm used to playing the new tracks and hoping they'll hit I always give myself 3 to 5 dances. If it doesn't hit in that time frame, I won't play it, but I'll sure give it my all. The last one I pushed as hard as this was Thomas Rhett's Vacation and that got a lukewarm to tepid response from the beginning and never got any better. I haven't played it since.

Aaahhh...I love that song! Asked a DJ on a cruise last year if he had it (perfect for a cruise!) but he looked at me like I had 2 heads...:-/
