I got a phone call yesterday and today. Some people if they don't recognize the number they won't answer the call. I call back because I'm in business and never know when it's a call about business.

So I get this call from someone saying there's a warrant out for my arrest. The person asked me when is the last time I filed my taxes. They then wanted to know if I had a lawyer? After that they wanted to know what was I going to do? I told them nothing and they hung up.

Today I get a call from the same number claiming again there's a warrant out on me. They ask me did I get any mail about this. I tell them no. The person said let me read to you what the letter says. I ask them can they send me the letter? He said yes and hung up the phone. Now if it was for real they would have stayed on the phone with me to see if they have my correct address.

I did forget to say in the beginning they gave me some badge number like they were some agent looking to arrest me or have me settle this thing. I just wonder how do they get your name and some of your info? I have true call on my cellphone now and it didn't come up scam like it does sometimes. The number said it was from NY. Nice try.

I texted them and told them try scamming someone else.

Ok, let's have a little bit of honesty here Mix. How do you know this is not legit? In order to say you filed your taxes, this means you have to pay your taxes properly, which includes income from parties. Have you done that?

I had the same thing happen yesterday. I was intrigued, and ready to play! I started asking questions like "So...Do you like buttered popcorn?"

...I then asked them what they were wearing...I asked 3 times because he did not want to give me...kept on talking nonsense about how I need to pay a lot of money or be incarcerated. I then started licking a lolli pop as loud as I could then saying "ohhhh yeaaahhhh baby!" ....Then that asshole hung up on me...How RUDE! ...I was just getting started...:banana::thumbsleft::p

Google the number or post it here and we can google it for you. There's many sites that will have it listed if it's a scam....Likely it is but I would have played along to get the catch

I did to me when I asked can you mail the letter to me and he quickly hung the phone up. When things like this come up I ask to send me the info in the mail so I can check and see if it's real or not. Since you asked the number is 1-716-220-8609.

Phone numbers can be spoofed. You never know where the call is REALLY coming from.

Though a smart scammer wouldn't try to spoof a known spamming number ...

Mix, This scam has been going on for several years. Answering the phone or returning the scammers call lets them know that a live person is on the other end. They will then pass your number along to other scammers and they will come at you from different angles. If you don't recognize the number, don't answer the phone. If they leave a B.S. message, don't call them back.

I got another phone call from a different number which is close to the other number. The person left a message saying they are from the U.S. treasury department. I called the number back and the phone quickly hung up. Lol.

I had a similar one that was a recorded message.
And it was recorded by a computer voice generator.
It may have been to cover up a horrible accent....
but it didn't cover up their horrible, broken English.

PS
Always remember that the IRS will never call you on the phone first.
They will send a letter, and include a phone number.
