I use Sony MDR-7506 and Pioneer HDJ-2000. IMHO, the Sony's sound a little better, but the Pioneer's are more "rebuildable" - replaceable cord, etc..

I don't use them on the road but I have a pair of Sennheiser HD280. They are very accurate and nice sounding. Moderately priced too

I also have a pair of HD201 that I use in my studio. They sound nice and are very light

I don't bring out anything expensive for mobile DJ use. ...That is because I purchased a pair of expensive $130 head phones one time, and they broke 10 months later.

I have a pair of Skull Candy $10 head phones I use. Been in my bag for 5 years or so, and still work fine.

If I didn't care, and had plenty of money to spend on head phones, I would be using the Bose noise cancelling ones.

It is sometimes funny how different many of us DJ. I have no playlist, try to read the floor, constantly pre-listening for the next best song, setting up cues and loops, might beat match, etc.. This is not a judgement call, simply an observation. Anyway, because of this, I'm constantly using my headphones (hooked to a controller).

With all the money I've spent, another $100 for good sounding/good fitting headphones is a drop in the bucket - and besides, life's to dam short.

A nice upgrade to the Sony's stock ear cushions - which I wore out - were "Wicked Cushions" -

the first pair of pro headphones i ever used back in 91was a set of Fostex T-20's ... i wore them exclusively my whole career... after a short retirement i tried to rebuy a pair and only found its new counterpart....which seems a tad inferior to the classic ones... but they do the job...

i also carry a pair of these as a back up....

Sennheiser HD558’s with my Large System, and Audio Technica ATH-M50’s with my Small System. The price difference doesn’t seem to make much difference, as the less expensive Audio Technica’s sound just as good as the Sennheisers.
