I had a call today from a bride that wanted me to live stream the wedding, dinner, and reception on a 2022 gig. They wanted high quality audio/video streamed on Youtube for people that can't be there. To do it right it's beyond my sphere but I was wondering has anyone done this? What would you charge for something like this? I figure it would be an expensive undertaking

Might have an issue putting up anything with identifiable music content ... YT may pull it midstream ..

I was wondering about that and if there was a license. I think there is a SOCAN license that covers it but that still might not help with Youtube's end

In addition to what Steve said, you need 1000 subscribers before you can live stream on YouTube I believe

That I didn't know

There are other alternatives to live streaming besides YouTube, although there used to be more. Some have been purchased by bigger companies, like Vimeo bought Livestream and IBM bought Ustream. Justin.TV morphed into Twitch. There are some other independent streaming sites though.

It doesn’t take much to do it. You need a good video camera with the ability to attach it to your computer, which must have a video capture card (or external USB video capture device). You probably already have a mixer and microphones, so the rest is easy. I proposed using Ustream to conduct statewide meetings for the state agency I worked for about 7-8 years ago, as it could have saved a lot of time and money by not having people traveling from every corner of the state to Oklahoma City. I even did a demo at one of our meetings. Unfortunately, back then, I did not have all the audio gear I have now, so I could not produce the audio quality I could now. The good thing about something like Ustream is nobody is moderating YOUR stream, and the only people who see it are those you invite. So nobody will cut off your stream when you play copyrighted music. You could do pretty much the same thing with Zoom or Microsoft Teams, or even WebEx.
