Got to remember to bring a pen and notebook with me.

What's needed is a check list for us because sometimes we've forgotten certain things. Once we made a mistake and left to do an event and left a Shure Shure wireless mic outside of where my partner lived at the time loading up the van I had at the time. That was a major ouch!

Function in a business like manner, with professional practices and the opportunity to "forget" necessary components becomes almost unfathomable.

If you have reinvent the wheel from a list each and everytime, you are not doing so.

What makes things a little easier Mix, is keeping all of your cables, microphones and accessories in carrying bins. For me it's usually two trips into the venue. One with my speakers and subs, trip 2 with my carry cases. Everything is enclosed nothing is forgotten. Home Depot has some really good bins with tops in different sizes.

I have those and use them. I also keep certain things in my laptop bag such as the dual wireless microphones and batteries. My HD's are in there as well along with both laptops. Depending on the type of event and what's needed certain wires are on top of the bins.

Also helps to keep all equipment in one specific uncluttered area ... when the van is loaded...one last check of that area should be all you need....

If you need stuff scattered around then prepare said spot a day or two in advance of an event...

i cant fathom running all over the house during load up.. opening drawers and looking under the couch for my needed equipment/accessories ... thats a disaster waiting to happen every time.... shame on anyone with that level of professionalism

You should write yourself a note to remember to bring a notebook and pen to write things down.

But this in itself would require a pen and notebook.

What a canundrum!

Could you give comedy lessons to Chris. That's how you do it.

As they say, "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket".
If you drop that bag, lose it, leave it somewhere...or it gets stolen...
you just lost two laptops, all of your music, plus mic's and batteries.
Which means you lost your main gear AND your backups.
Get in the habit of spreading things out into different carrying "vessels".
And always keep a "master" hard drive with your music in your house.
