What the hell are you talking about? I suggested a sign with the name of the place on it so people attending an event there will know that is the place. Just leaving that part blank doesn't make sense to me and he said he bought letters to use for a sign that tells the name of the place.

The banner was placed out beside the road, on the driveway gate. It has helped tours to spot the place easier. It's temporary, but seems to be working. I bought the letters to place the venue name, just over the front door. I may do a halo sign, mounted against the building later but for this first effort I wanted a free-standing sign that will show up in all exit shots, right over the B&G's heads. I really want something that has some dimension to it, as opposed to a flat sign, against the building wall. When (if) money starts coming in, this will likely get upgraded/changed. Poo-poo the DIY all you want, but there's no way I could've paid for having everything hired out.

Sorry you thinking I was knocking yoi DIY. I certainly am not! I just mentioned having a sign out so people can know they are at the right place. You did that and you took the cheapest way for now and I agree with you totally. You've already spent plenty of money on making improvements on the venue and are doing an excellent job. Keep it up.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I can't recall one B&G photo that has the title of a venue over the head in the background or anywhere in the picture for that matter. I think photogs may steer away from it b/c their job is to capture the couple, not advertise for the venue. Honestly, I can't recall any venues I've every played at that have the name immediately overhead.

Thanks for the perspective. I'm planning to set it up, without attaching the letters, take a few pics, then make a decision. We have a couple of venues around here who have their name above the exit door and it's nice.
