One thing about idjpool though that seemed a little off-putting to me compared to bpm-supreme was their cancellation policy (see above). You can pause your account once. After that if you want to do that, they push you into a 12 month prepay. It's like they're trying to punish you for putting your account on pause which seems a bit juvenile. In my opinion, if it's really a great service, you'd think people would just naturally be less likely to pause the acct. No need for punishments. :-/ After your "punishment period" is over they'll let you go back to monthly again unless you do it again. Then they smack your hand again with another 12 mos pre-pay. I know it's good to keep a subscription going to stay on top of current songs etc but it's also nice to have that pause option. Heck, I did that with HBO and Game of Thrones!

Well, because they do keep an extensive back catalog, it's to keep people from only paying a few months of the year from getting access to everything they missed when they pay for another month. If they did otherwise, many DJs would stop in the Fall and resume in the Spring, but still get all the music they missed .. not very profitable for the pool.

In Australia I can now buy from most places ... but there is always a catch , if the company goes out of business or the business is found to be illegal (thats up to the powers to be not me) then I have to decide if they are what I really need and rest are removed

I keep to traditional online sources that have been around a long time first...

I have the standard plan, though I was grandfathered in at a lower price a few years ago.

Years back i got sorta lucky...my mixtapes were reviewed in some national magazines...and i had a mixshow on the radio... and several labels just started sending me everything in the mail...i had stacks and stacks of unopened record boxes... and cd envelopes...it was funny how much was still being printed up on vinyl in the early 2000s before the millenials started buying again...

you can see a stack of record boxes in the background of this old photo... this was about 2006 or so...

Do you feel that iDJPool's beat loops, quick mixes and mashups are pretty good? BPM doesn't seem to have these categories (except remixes and some acappella and instrumental versions of songs) so that was one thing that caught my eye.

Honestly, I don't use mixes very much, though there are a lot on idjpool (mostly in the Dance and Urban genres). Many of the songs have DJ Intro/Outro versions, some have BPM transition versions.

As an example, here is the current listings for Old Town Road .. there are duplicates since they post to both the weekly directories and the yearly ones and I just did a simple global search ...

It seems absurd but the DJ Kue Remix has a .009 faster tempo than the Milan Variable Remix (Version 3)...so if you need that speed you have it...and the Navic Remix has a 16 beat intro whereas the Meaux Green Remix has a 32 second, so you see, they are very different indeed...

All the ravings about Promo Only and PrimeCuts but realistically is there really anything one has to get with the redundant crap in the current music charts?
There hasn't been any major dance floor "have to have" hit for probably at least a year or more!
 
I've been using IDJPOOL for a music pool recently (thanks Steve...good suggestion). I recently switched from BPM Supreme. I'm finding, though, that IDJPOOL has very little classic rock and/or remixes of those etc. I've never tried out ERG. Anyone know much about them or can suggest other great pools? I'm finding I'm in need of a lot more staple songs in a variety of genres. I'm pretty set on current stuff.

You won't find a lot of classic rock since the pools basically carry what has been released by the record companies and mp3 releases have only been around for less than 20 years. It's possible some pools were given the rights to rip older CDs, but don't believe it's very many. Some, like BPM, might have rips of older music videos, but not much in quality audio. Idjpool has some that have been re-released, but the only real way to build a good back catalog is buying CDs (Walmart, eBay, and tag sales are good spots) and ripping them. I've bought hundreds of CDs over the years to fill in.
 
Makes sense. I never thought about it like that. I just assumed that the dj pools would have done the ripping so as to have product that people would want. Good to know! I guess it's the Bargain-Bin at Walmart for me :laugh:

Just subscribed to this Monday. Gotta get used to how they let you download the music, but other than that we shall see how it compares to. POOL.

I use the FlashFXP ftp client they recommend (and provided the license for) .. Once it's set up, one drag and drop downloads everything .. might run for a few hours. I think the first time it took 3+ days ..

Yes, the first time is DAYS. Make sure you have enough storage. If you use iTunes for an index, do NOT index the entire collection.
