Looking at controllers and found one I like.

Anyone own/use this G2V?

It has balanced outputs, control room outs with volume and headphone out with que volume. Seems to have all I need except xlr mic inputs with fx which I can workaround with my ZediFx mixer. Mapped to VDJ too, whichmis the direction I think I'll go.

I'm really just looking for playback functionality and multiple outs, so no drum machine needed.

What do you think?

Pricing is one factor for sure, since I’m not actually a gigging DJ and because it would be my first one. Added functionality of the pricier ones seems to be mainly added FX, drum machines, etc.

Is there some limitation I’m totally overlooking?

It's a six-year-old product that may or may not be discontinued at this point. Firmware and driver updates have probably come and gone. For that reason alone, there are better choices. A little more money will get you a Denon MC4000 which comes with much better support and a vast knowledgebase of fellow users.

Another aspect is software support. If you haven't decided what DJ type application you will focus on, it's best to pick a vendor that typically gets supported by most of the app makers out there .. usually OK with a Pioneer, Numark or Denon. They all have models under $400.

You are talking Gemini. That's my sign. Gemini has improved over the years. I wouldn't go crazy with buying something made by Gemini. I would stick with Pioneer, Denon or Numark. They are household names who have a reputation to keep up. Even with their entry level equipment.
