Geico insurance for my vehicle is kind of misrepresenting itself .

The commercial says if you're a current or new policy holder that your insurance payment is to be reduced by 15%. What it is that they do is give you the 15% discount for your last payment before time to renew your policy. That's why my last payment before having the policy being renewed was less than $25. Slick trick to get someone to sign up. I thought the discount would be for each months payment that way. Not actually complaining because what I pay each month for full coverage is really a good price. Just giving a heads up. Of course at the end paying less then $25 was great instead of over $200.

OK it's been over 20 years since I made monthly payments on car insurance I generally pay up front for the discount and convenience but the last time I did I recall it being 2 months down and 10 equal payments has this changed?

Seems like you pay a lot for insurance too Mix have you checked around?

If your paymentis normally over $200 and you paid $25 you saved over $175. How much do you pay per year?

The discount is for current customers only.
So, it's not a "trick" to get new customers.
They are running the ad to make people feel better about Geico.
("Look at what WE are doing")
If it gets new customers, all the better...
but they aren't tricking anyone.

I would have to check because I got full coverage since I'm still paying for the van and they do every 6 months.
Doing some quick math, you normally pay $200 per month, which is $1200 per half year. The discount of $175 they gave you seems to be 15% of that total. It was very nice of them to take the discount off up front.

This sounds familiar. I think we discussed this before. $2400 a year for insurance on a used car seems outrageous. They must consider you a very high risk.

I pay $275 for 6 months on a brand new car.

I just started a new policy with Geico. For the time being I pay monthly. This month was $76 and change. Next month is $6 and change. The rest of the months are $67.60. I must have gotten a discount on that second month. I didn't do the math but I'm happy with my premium. I quoted with 3-4 other companies and the lowest was $176/mo. I don't know maybe because I'm a previous customer and never had any claims.

When the renewal is up in January I'm thinking about paying the whole ~$300 premium in one clip. It's one less bill I'll have to worry about every month.
