After 8 months I finally did my first gig. It was a 40th Birthday party at a residence. Originally planned for a hall with Covid regulations it couldn't happen so the birthday girls husband invited about 10 of her closest friends and got me to play some music. She really wanted a video dance party so we made it happen in a living room

It was a very small setup I used one NX55 split off both channels of the Yamaha mixer, laptop, and HDMI running to their TV. Normally I wouldn't rely on someone elses TV but With the limited space there was no room for projector and screen or additional TV's. I didn't use any dance floor lighting I felt it may be a bit overwhelming in such a small space

It was a little slow starting they were mingling but once they got going it was a blast. I played pretty much every song they requested and they danced and sang along to all of them. It was a lot of 90's and early 2K stuff. Two of the more interesting requests were Mr Big - To Be With You and Wilson Phillips - Hold On. I haven't played either in years.

If everything stays the same my next gig is May of next year so it isn't exactly a triumphant return but it was nice to be back for a night

I’m envious. I haven’t had a gig this year, and have nothing booked. I have my Small System set up in my office, and I still practice, but I have no bookings.☹ I haven’t officially terminated my business, but it seems inevitable.

Hang in there things will get better...They will be different but we will all be working again

I hope that the economic rebound has a commensurate component of justice and that the shutdowners, fearmongerers and anti-social tyrants benefit last and least.

I've had a couple groups ask me for that Wilson Phillips song in the last year or so. It's a major sing along for the ones that really know it, but I don't think to just throw it in on my own very often.
