I just had to find out some horrible news today. My partner wouldn't tell me till we got to the storage space. Had to find out one of my dearest DJ friends died 3am Thursday morning. His sister died on Monday and they put him in the same room. He contacted the virus I was told from someone when he was at Club Elevations. It was his setup they used in the place.

He was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. His ego was in check but he wasn't a dummy. He did a lot over his long career and helped a lot of people including me last year in Weequahic Park twice. Out of respect for the family I didn't give his name. I told my partner as much as he did over the years we need to have a big celebration somewhere in his honor. It needs to be at least a two day thing.

What I don't understand is why did they put him on the same room his sister died in!? I'm going to really miss him. I was looking for him to set me up with the internet radio show again. That won't happen. May God bless his soul and his family at this time. Losing 1 family member in a week is tough enough but 2? I know the family has to be a big mess right now.

I know a whole lot of DJs out here owe so much to that brother that they could never repay him if he were still alive. REAL TOUGH DAY TODAY!!!!!!!!

Hewas the DJ who was doing events in Washington Park during the summer time on Thursdays. The park is located in downtown Newark on Washington Street. Across the street from the public library.

Sorry to hear about your friend and his sister Mix. Please everyone be careful out there.

With how Trump is talking, and saying we need to get back to work, and open things up asap...I don't see us being in this situation closures and shelter in place 45 days from now. I think regardless of how bad the spread of the virus gets or how over whelmed our health care system gets, they will force a reopening of everything before May 15th hits. Trump is already talking about it. They will choose economy over HEALTH. That sounds awful, and well...it kinda is, but its the nature of TRUMP, and the other Billionaire Capitalists. ....They will complain enough to get things opened back up. I can't see the nation being closed longer than that...even if we reach 2 million cases. They will say screw it, lets open everything back up!
But you said they chose economy over health already. How can they do it again?

What he's saying and I agree with him. When enough rich people get hit in the pocket with this and they are losing tons of money, that's when businesses will reopen trying to be open under normal conditions. Never mind the people this is really affecting and I'm not talking about the virus alone.

I say this and I believe this. The reason why the world is in trouble is because of our greed. The world has become so greedy that if a few lives are lost so what. Where's the money at? I went to the storage space I rent and lost the key to one of the locks. I went in the office to tell what happened and I was told it would be $25 to cut the lock off. I'm already paying over $150 a month and they still are looking to get more money from me. I don't have a choice since my stuff is in there. Rarely do people do anything anymore for free. It's a shame but true.

Here's another real sad part. Some idiot on RVR said that this virus was created to kill Black people. Some people are so stupid and just need to shut the hell up.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

As for the other things, CV doesn't care about your wealth and many, including rich people, have been hit in the pocket and are losing tons of money already. You can't reopen under normal conditions if they don't exist.

As for not doing anything for free, people have bills - and free doesn't pay those bills. You are always talking about how you pay (overpay) someone 'because they need to make money' and because 'they have bills' .. but you can't give this guy $25 so that you can get to your own stuff (for which you lost the key to)? I also guarantee that when you signed the contract to rent this space, you'll find a note that tells you what the charges are if you lose your keys.

Why should he have to work for free just because you can't remember where you put your keys? If you lose the keys to your car, do you also expect the dealer to open your van for free? If you lose the keys to your house, should the locksmith have to work for free? $150 / month pays for the space. If you need more services, there's more charge.

Funny, the guy in the park wanted more equipment and you refused without more money ($25.00 if I recall) - pot, meet kettle.

Remember what I said. I said I'm paying over $150 a month for the space and now this $25 charge. My point that you missed is how the world has become greedy and killing itself because of the greed.

Maybe he felt disrespected like you did over that deal in the park when the guy wouldn't pay you $25 more

The death rate due to Covid-19 is small enough that it will soon be overtaken by the crime rate that results form shutting everything down.

For those of you who argue distinction between health and economics - you're in for a very rude awakening.

2 different things .. one pays for the space, and the other for your incompetence of losing the key. Remember, they have to pay for someone to cut the lock .. then they have to pay for a new lock .. so $25 is probably a good deal.

He could always cut it himself...One of his partners must have bolt cutters

Is it your lock? Why not use your own bolt cutters? Don't own any? $25 is not a lot of money to pay someone for their time and equipment to help you fix your mistake.

While this is a bad example of greed, greed is nothing new. It's been around forever

$450 car payment with 2 VINS and $150 space rental to store and transport big speakers that you can't move yourself and a 30 channel mixer for events that are typically 25-50 people.

I can see why $25 makes a difference to you.

That's why I said the world is slowly destroying itself. It's because of the world's greed. My monthly payment for the van is less than $420 a month and the storage space was needed because we have no plans to store all the stuff we have in our inventory.

I can afford to pay the $25. My point was should I have to when they are already making enough money as it is. If they aren't that's not my fault.

How much money are they making?
Do you know what their expenses are per month?
How much is their mortgage?
Advertising costs?
Payroll?

If you can afford to pay the $25, does this indicate that you are making enough money so you should lower your rates because you don't need the money?

So you are paying $5000 per year for the van and $1800 per year for storage to keep and move gear you only make $1000-$1500 a year on? That's good business there ...

And $300 for speaker covers😄

Not trying to be a d*CK, but pointing out that we do multiple shows per day on weekends. I move gear around with a small car that's great on gas. No payment, car is 8 years old. No storage space needed. All of my gear is compact. We do small events, weddings 150-200 people, the occasional 300 plus wedding. School dances 400-700.
On the bigger events, I will have someone else bring gear in their car as well. It's just not typical. So I don't need a van for every weekend. There's no need to be paying constantly for things I'd use rarely.
