So far I've had 4 events reschedule. I had one Bride & Groom cancel their May 2nd reception. Provided them a full refund. Hopefully, the others will reschedule and not cancel; but if they do full refunds will be provided.
Everything through mid May has now been cancelled or rescheduled. Last events we did were March 8. So, at least 2 months with no events. we have may 22 and 29th weekend still scheduled now, bit not looking great.
I've been very fortunate... bc I only take 70 events a year, I've had a bit of availability for my couples rescheduling, and have been able to reschedule all my private events. At the same time, I'm getting a bunch of inquiries for 2021 separately from this. Couples that had already booked their venue before this chaos began are now feeling the need to book all their vendors before the rescheduling limits their options. There is definitely opportunity to be had here. I'll still end up with 70 events for 2020 and see 2021 booking very fast.Im actually seeing a major uptick on random non referrals contacting me about weddings on my social media... I am assuming dj's cant accomodate some of the rescheduling needs....
I am getting 2 to 3 a day. I think once the dust settles the dj business will be quite a sight to see

I need to ask this question. Not that it's not a nice gesture.. Why give a full refund? Why not say to them you will take the money you've been paid already and put it towards another date in the future? This thing will eventually get away from panic mode and things will get back to being normal. I don"t see that couple eventually getting married down the road later on.So far I've had 4 events reschedule. I had one Bride & Groom cancel their May 2nd reception. Provided them a full refund. Only 70 events a year? Stop bragging sir. If you’ve been watching other people’s live streams and videos most full time djs are doing 100-150 events a year. Barr was aiming to 100 weddings alone. I am fortunate to not need that Amount by having my event minimus. Photographers who charge way more only need 40 events.Only 70 events a year? Stop bragging sir. LOL.

You people worry too much...the Lawyers will fix all these issues.Meanwhile, there's a story floating around on social media
about a wedding in Australia, that went on despite the virus.
The most recent total has 30 guests infected.
I am allowing them to reschedule if they want and I am available. If they decide not to reschedule and cancel, full refunds are being given on the advice of my attorney.I need to ask this question. That’s interesting being that most lawyers In various wedding forums and online chats right now are saying the djs have the right to keep the deposits if a wedding cancels outright, unless your contract allowed for the client to cancel an event with no penalty. Unless your state has very specific laws regarding this situation.. which most don’t.I am allowing them to reschedule if they want and I am available. According to my attorney, regardless of anything in the contract, it has now entered a state of "Impossibility of Performance". Google it.. This the link I found to best explain it. My attorney is not affiliated with this site, it is just one I found when googling after he explained it. https://www.upcounsel.com/impossibility-of-performanceThat’s interesting being that most lawyers In various wedding forums and online chats right now are saying the djs have the right to keep the deposits if a wedding cancels outright, unless your contract allowed for the client to cancel an event with no penalty. It’s actually funny because many people are bringing that up and a number of lawyers are sayin that it doesn’t really apply or won’t be practical. There was a webinar 2 nights ago w a lawyer from one of the worlds largest law firms who quickly dissected that. The key argument would be that this is only a temporary inconvenience and that the event can easily postpone, therefore not creating an absolute impossibility. Plus, if they wanted to make that argument, they’d need a hearing as the defendant would need to defend themselves, and the actual cost of doing that would far exceed the potential return for the client. It would only be practical in cases with large sums of money.... $20000+According to my attorney, regardless of anything in the contract, it has now entered a state of "Impossibility of Performance".
