The annual Boring Day Bash held Dec 26 every year. In it's heyday we'd have 1000+ people partying their asses off

Perhaps the one that made the most memorable impression on me, I was recently new to the performing world and being mentored - playing a wedding. The couple did their first dance, the Bride danced with her father and then the Groom danced with his mother. When the groom danced with his mother, there was a person facing the Bride, signing (sign language) the lyrics of the song to her, as she was standing next to the speaker.

I've had lots of other pleasant memories over the years - but that one is always near the top.

This one brings tears to my eyes every time I think of it not my favourite event but one of the most emotional moments and a great memory. About 10 or 12 years ago I did a wedding where the Brides father was dying of cancer he was in bad shape could hardly walk. She had told me in advance about it and said he wanted to do the first dance but be prepared for a quick change in the event he couldn't. Two people basically carried him to the dance floor and it was like he was rejuvenated. He did the dance with her they were both beaming. After the song the two guys helped him back to his chair and he was there almost to the end on the night hardly moved. Sadly he passed on a couple of days later but they both had their moment

Had a similar experience with a close friend who's family was from out of state. I never met his parents and therefore never knew or needed to know that...they were both deaf. I only learned of that reality during the planning. My initial internal reaction to that news was that I would now, albeit willingly, have to move mountains to make sure that his parents were able to participate like any parent would/should. Turns out my initial reaction was a HUGE overreaction. All that was required was caring, consideration and professionalism to provide for this routine circumstance in their lives. It was moving and rewarding to see how the most minimal efforts assured that his parents and family and guests were in on every moment, every necessary conversation and announcement.

The only added responsibility I had to assume was to include his sign language fluent sister in on the timeline and made sure they were always in the know.

It is always a blessing to see how others, who have been given a substantially more difficult path, manage to clear the hurdles and still show and receive love with the same consideration as we all want to be.

Now if I had found out that both his parents had chronic butterfingers, that would simply have confirmed our suspicion that he'd been dropped on his head, repeatedly, as an infant.

I don't know my all time favorite. I know we did a surprise 50th bday celebration for a minister who thought he was coming to the Robert Treat Hotel for a ministers conference. It was on a Sunday evening after doing 2 other events on Friday and Saturday. The event was beyond the roof! Everybody including us had a great time at the event. They danced the whole time including the minister and his wife. This was many years ago when we were using CDs. Glad to know I don't have to carry CD books to a gig anymore. The event went into overtime and we didn't charge because we were having so much fun. The one issue is that the event was on the second floor and the elevator was out of order, which meant we had to get the gear up some stairs. Ugh. That event was about 10 years ago or so and I still remember that event. That's how great that event turned out! I love when we get to do an event like that. It makes me feel like it's not just another event I'm doing. An event like that makes work super fun!!!!!!!!!!
