I'm a big EV fan. I have about 12 EV amps that I use depending on what set up I use.
I have:
2- EV Eliminator amps (same as Q66 amps)
3- EV Q66 amps
4- EV Q1212 amps

Someone local is selling 5 EV P3000 amps on CL. These are the old style 3U made in Germany.
The new Q amps are designed in Germany but are out sourced and made in China.
Anyone ever used the P3000's? He is asking $650.00 each.
I have 4 of the EV MTL1x subs rated at 1200 watts con, 4800 watts peak.
The Q1212's I'm using now are rated at 1200 watts per channel.
The P3000 is rated at 1800 watts at 4 ohms per channel.
That would give me a little head room when pushing the subs hard.

I finally got to talk to him. He has 9 in total that came out of a small church so I'm guessing they were never pushed very hard though they may have a lot of hours on them. He said he has some that are in mint condition. I told him I may be interested in 2 of them and if he would give me a better price. He said he'll sell 2 for 500 each.

That would seem to be a very good price if they weren't abused.

I might open one up and look inside to see if there are signs of burnt or melted components, yellowing or browning of conductors, etc.

I plan on opening them up to see how much dust has accumulated inside the amp and fans. I'll check for burnt components when I remove the lid.

I was wrong about the power output.
There rated at 1200 watts per channel at 4 ohms. Not 1800.
So basically there the same as the Q1212's I'm currently using.
Not really an upgrade on power though they may be built better then the second generation Q amps.
They are bigger and heavier then the gen 2's I'm using now.
I'm gonna go look at them tomorrow.

Nothing wrong with church amps - turning them on once a week preserves the electrolytic caps. Besides cleaning the dust out, I always re-seat the TO3 output devices in big amps if they are in sockets, and look for charred/burned contacts on the output relay.

Update.
He sold 7 to one guy and he only has 2 left. He said that there are the best ones out of the lot and he wants 600 each firm. I got to thinking. (insert joke here) I've been buying EV Q66's from GC for several years and I can find them for anywhere from 120 bucks to 220 bucks. I have 4 of them and I have run them in mono at 1200 watts each. Two Q66's is 400 bucks for a pair. One P3000 is 600 bucks and is also 1200 watts. See where I'm going.
Question is, would two Q66's in mono sound as good as one P3000? The other thing is weight. The P3000's (70lb each) are twice as heavy per unit compaired to 2 of the Q66's at (32lb each)

I have also been eying Daynacords 4 channel 2U at 2500 watts per channel and cost around $1,100. Thats 4- 2500 watts per channel in a 2U space amp. I could run both tops and subs on one 2U amp.
 
I went to look at them this evening. Nice cosmetically clean amps. He had a lot of equipment in his garage and I was able to test them out. The strange thing is they followed me home. I'm running double tops on them rite now and tomorrow I'll hook the subs up and see how they sound. I did talk him down to 500 each. Got some EDM going rite now. They sound very good, nice and clean and seem to be running effortlessly.
I did say these suckers are a bit heavy?

Well after just a few days I can say with out a doubt the p3000 is a very good quality amp. The sound is effortlessly clean with plenty of power to drive just about any top or sub. Subs hit hard and clean. I can say they are a little bit better then the Q1212's I have, they seem to do the job effortlessly and it doesn't sound like they are being pushed at all. If you are looking for a good clean powerful amp, look at a p3000, there worth consideration.

Did I mention how heavy these suckers are? 70lb each. I think I'll just keep them at home and use my q1212's for road work. I do like the fan on the p3000. It's much quieter then the fans on the q1212's. The 1212 fan will cycle on and off even when idling. The p3000 doesn't cycle on while idling and when the fan does come on, it's much quieter. Because there heavy and supper quiet, they will be my studio amps from now on and the q1212's can be my gig amps. That way everything can just stay packed up in the trailer so I don't have to load and unload equipment all the time.
