Based on such amazing reviews, I have decided to invest in 3 of the EV Evolve 50 sound systems. They should arrive in the first week of October.

These will be a great addition to my wedding equipment.

Anyone else investing in this new system?

The RCF's are nice for sure but no mixer section and no bluetooth. We do a ton of ceremonies where these features are nice to have.

May I ask, why do you think the RCF's are built better? EV's aren't even released yet.

Makes sense, I use the Bose Compacts for ceremonies, but always have a little ceremony mixer for them.

The cabinet on the EV looks like the plastic construction on the ZLX line to me. The RCF has the heavy duty paint that I'm used to from my KW 181. May totally be wrong, but it was purely visual to me.

Ah, I see. The EV sub is a wood cabinet with a dura-tex type paint.

As a Bose user, I would always bring my ToneMatch as a mixer. I want to get away from that. I can now plug the wireless mics into the EV and then stream bluetooth audio to the speakers. The best of both worlds.

I would guess that the Evox hits much harder than the EV wince it has a 15" woofer but I will plan on supplementing the system with an external sub, as needed.

I saw the Evolve 50 at the DJ Expo. Thought they were OK, but I think the RCF EVOX 8 sounds a little nicer, though I think you can get the Evolve 50 for less. The EVs had a much nicer mixer section though and I would certainly use them.

Good stuff Steve, thanks! The mixer section is quite appealing to me, for sure.

I looked at them both. RCF only sends 200 watts to the top and 500 to the sub. EV sends 500 to both, the top and bottom. There are a few subtle differences that made me go with the EV. In addition, I started with EV many years ago. I had the ETX series and just didn't like to see the limit lights, so early, so I got rid of them. But, the sound that EV produces has always been warm and very crisp. I assume that these will be no different. I have also been assured that the limit light issue has been remedied. We shall see.

Yea .. if I were starting over, they would be on my short list. The 500w to the tops really doesn't mean a lot to me personally, since 8 small drivers probably pull a maximum of 40w total anyway.

If the paint is anything like it was on the ELX line, it's horrible, chips easy and smells awful.

I also like the tone out of EV's wood cabs.

I picked up a set of Evox 12's off of a friend tonight to use at a wedding this weekend, just to make sure I hear them too. My EV's are on order but I would be kicking myself if I didn't at least hear them.

They sure are light and easy to transport.

I just ordered two of the EV - Evolve 50 systems. This is my first go around with such a system as I am a little sick of that speaker on a stick look. I bought this system just based on the hype to be quite honest. EV has a very good name and that was the first branded speaker I had when I started Dj'ing. I now have QSC, also a very good brand. I needed to try something different. Most of my wedding gigs are smaller party events, 125 to 175 guests, so this system seemed like a nice fit for those events. One of the really nice features on this system is that if you have a really small gig, you could get away with one unit. If I read the information correctly, there is a way to send a stereo signal to the one unit, if so... that is a nice feature.
EVOX is a super nice system and RCF is great stuff, I decided the EV over it purely because of the onboard mixer and bluetooth.
I am anxious to get mine. If I understand correctly, the units probably do not ship till first week in October.

Since these will be the forum's first Evolves .. we need field reports from both of you .. :)

There is another column system out there that there has been surprisingly little feedback on, the Maui 11.

There is a couple in our area who have a pair of them. They do live music, DJ'ing, and Karaoke with them, so I've heard them in a lot of different places, with up to 150 people. They're an easy setup, and they sound really good.

I spoke with them, and I think they said that Fender was supposed to be marketing them in the US, but I don't think it happened?

LD was at the DJ Expo, just not a lot of activity in their booth.

Almost everyone has a linear array speaker at this point, many we haven't gotten much feedback on including .. Turbosound, HK, JBL (Eon One), American Audio, and Carvin. Some are very good from the limited listening I've done, some are .. meh.

LD, like Turbosound, HK, FBT and Carvin, have limited places you can actually hear one played, so you need to go on word of mouth .. or faith.

You are right. Fender and LD are one in the same. It's the exact same system but marketed differently. Good catch!

You are right Steve... not many places stock these systems but I have never heard feedback from dj's before like I have heard from the DJ Expo. So, I jumped. I have 45 days, if I don't like them or have problems, I'll get the RCF system.

They were certainly better than most of the other stuff there. I think you'll like them.

Here's another one. Apparently Alto Black speakers and Denon Delta speakers are the same thing - parent company is InMusic.
I'm hearing really good things about the Alto Black subs, and I doubt InMusic would re-brand them as Denon if they weren't good.
