Was at a party today and someone played this old staple. A woman then explains to the others that the song is about a vibrator. I checked the lyrics and she could be right. Any of you heard that before?

True BS, I heard that story too, If you know anything about Marcia Griffiths you’d know it is false. Marcia is a reggae singer & remember playing it as early as 1986. I believe the song it was written by one of the Wailers back in the 1970s. Therefore is very highly unlikely back then a Jamaican would be writing about that topic back then.
I’m still playing it regularly. I’ve had people doing the electric slide before my Outdoor Movies many times. Sometimes in the dark.
I heard that years ago too don't know how true it is.
Incidentally I have only ever played that song once a couple of years ago I did a wedding for a couple from Minnesota at a local resort they requested it. It was never popular up here at least not in this market

People love to ask do you have the Electric Slide. That's what most people call it. The name of the song is Electric Boogie. The dance is called Electric Slide. Still a must play song for certain crowds.
