Many, many, many, many years ago... I bought a speaker.
Battery powered, 40-watt, 12 inch body with a 6-inch woofer...
AND a wireless mic.
It has 1.4", 3.5mm, XLR and i-pod inputs.
It was pre blue tooth.
It was a real solid little sucker, priced about 300-bucks...
back in the 90's when the technology was still new.

The battery died just before the Covid layoff, so I replaced it.
Never worked well after that, and last I checked...didn't work at all.

I have two weddings in the beginning of November...BOT with ceremony in another room.
So I was checking all my sources for a rental/borrow agreement,
but my sources were dry.
I have two cheap JBL powered backups, but one was also not working.

so last night, in a moment of boredom (and curiosity)
I opened up the battery compartment of the Samson,
and found out one of the terminal. plugs had corroded.
After cutting and cleaning, I soldered the wire to the battery.

BAZINGA! It worked.

Moral of the story...
don't give up on something that only requires a little attention.
(or...a little extra attention)

Good lesson. These days especially with cheaper gear we tend to toss rather than repair some repairs can be really simple and save hundreds on new gear
