It used to be that Guitar Center had decent cheap XLR cables. They recently redid their packaging and took the quality to shit.

I bought a 50ft that I needed at the last minute. It didn't work. I opened it up to find this:

Crap soldering, no strain relief, and one wire wasn't even there!

Interesting.

Years ago I purchased this "American Cable" brand Speaker cables from a local Music Store called Victor Litz. All thick 12 guage. I purchased a bunch of 1/4 inch cables back in 2000. I still have those cables today, and they work GREAT still. 17 years old almost!

The first 4 XLR Cables I purchased were Livewire brand at GC. All still work so far. I also have purchased cheaper cables off of Ebay from Monoprice. The Cheaper cables are thinner than Livewire brand, but seem to do the job fine.

I haven't had any issues with the cables from Audiopile.net .. XLR Microphone Cables

Decent price, good quality, choice of standard or star quad (slightly better crosstalk numbers and redundant connections).

I've used whirlwind accusonic+2 xlr cables for probably the last ten years and no failures with moderate use.
