Donner Dongles - Need Help

Did I ever ask anyone if Donners can be co-mingled with the use of the Blizzard wicicle receivers. For instance if you had a Donner transmitter, would that adequately transmit to a Blizzard receiver or would you need a Blizzard transmitter?

They have a few different systems running under the Wicicle banner. It's possible their SkyWire system is compatible, as the description seems to match that of the 7-channel, color coded Donners, but I'm not really sure.

I've used my donners for about 3 years now. I too got the battery ones.

the Tx died and I got one off ebay that is a 'box ' - MUCH better range, more reliable (i'd have to go look at it to give you any info). I don't have issues with things going to sleep/losing connections anymore and a lot more range.

Mine are set to GREEN channel. They flash red when NOT connected, solid green WHEN connected.

I've had very poor results with the dmxGO...it works and then doesn't - at home. Can't trust it here certainly not gonna try it live. Thanks to your info I may move things around some and see if that helps. So far I'm thinking I shoulda spent the money on good bourbon.

Hi all,
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but it seems there's a lull in the action.

I have used the plug-in Donner units for years and they work great.

I recently purchased 7 battery receivers and 1 transmitter. I charged them up overnight. I turned on my DMXis unit with TX attached and 5 of the 7 RX units paired (flashing green), however 2 RX units remained solid red. I made sure I'm using the same channel as the TX and other RX units (red), but I cannot get the two new RX units to pair/work.

In addition, none of the on/off power buttons work (on all 7 units). I can charge them...but have no way to shut them off while in transit to a gig (using battery life).

I've read somewhere you can remove the end cap and 'reset' the units, but I cannot find anything that looks like a reset on the PC board.

Any suggestions?

What kind of transmitter are you using? The box or the stick?

Stick (actually using my old 'plug in' stick TX). It pairs fine with my 4 plug in RX and 5 battery RX...just having a problem with 2 (of the 7) new battery RX

I'd try considering the box transmitter... it has a lot more strength and tends to work better overall and is more consistant. Im not too familiar with the battery units, and because I use the box, I don't know if I'll be able to help with this case. I was going to say that I know many complain about the lack of an on off feature on the battery units, and that some cycle through the colors as a way to reset. It could just be a bad solder point too.

Thanks djtasco, The battery Rx units have a 'power' button, but none (of the new 7 units) seem to work? I pressed the button (and I tried holding the button for several seconds) but the units stay on (solid red LED). The 5 new units that did pair with my Tx work fine for controlling my lights (just can't turn them off).

Regarding the 2 new Rx units that won't pair with my Tx - I guess these are faulty units (out of the box)? I'll try to contact Donner directly or the 'seller' for replacements if all else fails. Just wanted to explore all set-up options first. Thanks again.

FIXED IT!

I think I figured it out (by accident). You must 'double tap' the on/off button and it works. Quick tap/tap.

This also worked to fix the 2 faulty units that would not pair. Tap/tap to turn the Rx unit off, and tap/tap to turn back on, and they worked (paired with Tx).

I did not see anything about 2 quick taps in the instructions... but all 7 new battery Rx units work now.

While I have the battery receivers, my lights all have power out jacks, so I plug them in to those .. this way I don't worry about whether I forgot to charge them or not. I only got the wireless ones because they were smaller and sleeker than the older style with an antenna.
