Tomorrow's wedding is at 2 different locations, about 45 minutes apart. We're doing 2xphotog, DJ/MC, ceremony sound and uplighting. It's looking like a long day. First, I have to go about 30 minutes south from my home, then setup reception sound and uplighting at a VFW hall. Have to be there at 11am. After that, head 45 minutes north to another location where I'll do sound for the 3p ceremony. As soon as that's over, hot-foot it back to the VFW where the reception starts at 5p. Expecting it to end around 10p-11p. I really would have loved to have my son just take care of the ceremony but he's 2nd shooter on the photography. I don't about you guys, but split locations like this wear this ole boy out. How about you guys, what do you have going on tomorrow?

I am off this weekend...
but I did have one of those "dual location" gigs last year.
In my case, the two were about a half hour apart.
Fortunately...the pay made up for the extra effort.

I can't gripe about the pay on this one but it still has me scratching my head how they picked the sites involved. The VFW hall is down in Nashville. I think the groom's mom has some connection, and they likely got a deal on it. The ceremony is up north of town at a historic mansion site. Ceremony is out in a rose garden. The two settings couldn't be more polar opposite from each other, not to mention the distance.

I'm doing a wedding about 90 miles each way. I work at 6AM at the station leave at noon and start at 6PM. I'll be finished around 1 and take the 2 hour drive home because I have to work at 7AM

That's a lot of split shift work right there. Just make sure not to stress yourself out. Poor sleep schedule or not enough sleep will contribute to stress without you realizing it as well.

Tomorrow as in Friday, I am suppose to bartend at a Tiki bar from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. However, the temp is only suppose to get up to 64 as a high. Although Tropical Storm Michael will be moving out of here by 11 a.m the skies are suppose to be nothing but sunshine after that. Just a 20 degree drop in temperature. I was suppose to work tonight, but my shift was cancelled due to the rain.

For Saturday I actually have a Double. I was going to have one of my DJs do this 50th anniversary for an Elementary School, but I decided to do it myself, and pull a double because they have some important community people using mics to give speeches. I was worried the DJ I was going to put on it might have issues with this with the mics he uses. So I will hustle and make all the money on Saturday. I have to be there for load in/set up by 9:15 am. I have the gig from 10 to 2, then must tear down, load out quickly, and head into Washington, D.C. which is a 1 hour drive from that event. Hopefully get to my wedding gig by 3:45 which will give me 1 hour 45 minutes for set up before guests arrive. Ceremony start's at 6 p.m. Providing sound for the ceremony including 5 microphones, cocktail hour, reception, plus 20 Up Lights! That is a lot for me to do solo, but I will hustle and get it done.

It is going to be a long ass day on Saturday, BUT I have Sunday, Monday, Tuesday completely off so I can recuperate and catch up on sleep over the following 3 days. I will need it! Have not been sleeping well lately either. Can't seem to get more than 5 hours of sleep per night this past week.

Thanks Ricky...I'm "off" Monday and Tuesday from the radio job but I'll be doing my consulting job...Very low stress and I pick my hours

Oh I just looked at my schedule. I actually have a gig on Tuesday the 16th. It was a post poned fundraiser up at Ripken Stadium. I hope the weather holds out for that. Hate for it to be cancelled again. ...SO just 2 days off. And of course I will spend a good 40 minutes on Sunday loading back into storage.

I'm off this weekend, I have to catch that Neil Armstrong movie with my daughter. She actually went out and bought a NASA T-shirt to wear to the movie. But next week I finish off my last two outdoor movies of the season in NJ. Then finally on more outdoor events until April.
In my area afternoon and evening weddings receptions are common. The most insane Saturday was a triple, an afternoon wedding in Westchester, evening wedding in Nassau county and then Boat ride leaving out of Brooklyn. I only had to provide all of the equipment for the DJ so my butt wasn't on the hook as each location was about 45 - 60 mins away from each other. I called for help loading into the boat as it's was on the upper deck. Since it was a Casino on the boat there was tight security. I remember finally getting home around 5:30am in the morning. I can't even think about doing anything like that again now.

You get 5 hours sleep. I would take that right now.

Holy crap, now THAT is a rough day.

Tomorrow is not much better leave work at 1 and setup a small sound rig for a memorial service. I have to leave my daughter behind to operate that one and setup my 6-10 gig then come back for her and the gear. By that time it's pretty much straight to the other gig. The saving grace is they are both very easy

Was just cancelled out of work for the day. The winds are making it feel just cold enough that people wouldn't go and drink at the Tiki Bar. So it's closed.

Good that I have a day off I guess. I will take this time to prepare for tomorrow. I also need to put air in my SUV tires which I'm about to go and do, and hopefully I will be in bed by 11 tonight since I have to wake up early for my double tomorrow. Gotta be on the road by 8:35 a.m.for the first gig.

I have been yawning all day. My son has bad seasonal allergies with a terrible sounding cough. He has been miserable since Monday. Coughing so much all night last night. I woke up every hour through out the night. Not good sleep at all, but I guess I managed to pull maybe 5 hours last night in total again.

Today's proving to be a bit easier than I was expecting. Yes, it's a haul between sites but I was at the VFW at 11am and got everything setup. Have to admit, that hall is pretty rundown and quite the redneck setup, but I've done worse (I guess). I'm sitting at the historic mansion site and already have seating music playing. None of the guests have arrived yet but I'm expecting that soon. It's a nice, chilly day here in Nashville at about 60 degrees and rainy. Sure hope the rain holds off. Last weekend, my mixer was a bit exposed and got hammered by rain yet, it's working just fine today. Those little Behry mixers hold up well and are good bang for the few bucks it costs.

Here's the ceremony setup (from inside a Gazebo, right behind the altar). I'm off to the left.
