OK, so your post has confused me. Let's say, for example the mixer I have..... It is the Yamaha MG12XU. It has on board effects and a USB port where you can hook into it as a sound card. But, as far as I am aware, it is still an analog mixer. You can't assign channels to other outputs digitally, it is through pushing the buttons assigning the output channels and using the faders and pots. The digital boards I have used (Yamaha LS-9 and Behiringer X32) are a quite different animal the digital boards are usually much more expensive. But, you can control them with tablets over wi-fi, so you could use your new Lenovo (or the old iPad) to adjust while walking around the room.
