Day two at the DJ Expo. Didn’t see anyone from this site this year. My biggest issue with the expo has always been the sound level in the exhibit hall. The past two years they have been providing earplugs but that makes conversations with vendors very difficult. It seems now they have sound police that supposed to make sure that the sound from the booth doesn’t exceed 90 DB. Well, just stepping through the door the average was over 95 DB with peaks of over at 98db. So it’s still very loud in there, the first booth I pasted hit over 114db, so the earplugs stayed in the whole time. Jamz lighting likely had the best looking booth followed by Chauvet both integrated lighting and video panels. Jamz had an effect which looked like a neon-lit fan and Chauvet had an effect which output what I guess were nitrogen Bubbles. Sound-wise I liked the Mackie system that’s similar to the JBL VRX system and the Yorkville Synergy system. In the demo room, that system easily hit 126db on the far side of the room. It kind of reminded me of the Dynachord Cobra system, versatile, scalable and easy to use. But I don’t do the really large events anymore but a system like this would have simplify things greatly.
I always like to pick up something to support the DJ expo so this year I picked up a pair of the Gator framework Stands. With the sleek design, power lift, extra height and carry bag they’ll be Handy
