I know this has been talked about over and over, but lately I have been playing more upbeat/mid tempo dinner and cocktail songs.

So what I would like is to have people add just like 3 songs that are upbeat that you play during dinner and or cocktails.

Mine

Cantaloop - US3
Mas Que Nada - Black Eyed Peas
B-52s - Follow Your Bliss
Desperation Samba - Jimmy Buffet

More Today Than Yesterday - Spiral Staircase
The Love Of A Woman - Lionel Richie & Enrique Eglesias
Upside Down (Curious George Soundtrack remix) - Jack Johnson
Stealin' Kisses - Ben Harper

Man, this is such a hard habit for me to break. I need to begin doing this. I am finding that bringing the mood up in a progression is the right thing to do. Do I do it, not all the time. I do to play cantaloop. I play Luther Vandross - Power of love, if that counts.

Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Marvin Gaye/Tami Terrell
We Can - Leann Rimes
Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher - Michael Mcdonald
Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Be My Baby - Ronettes
Signed, Sealed, Delivered - Stevie Wonder
Rise - Herb Alpert
Feels Good - Chuck Mangione
8th World Wonder - Kimberley Locke
Beautiful Soul - Jesse McCartney
Here With Me - MercyMe
Latin Quarter - Marc Antoine
Out of the Blue - Mindi Abair
Ain't That a Kick In the Head - Dean Martin
Michael Buble - Everything
To Be With You - Mr. Big
The Search Is Over - Survivor

Love to mix up the genres also and only include a slow number every 3-4 songs..

Forgot to throw in one of my favorite Tony Bennett tunes

With Plenty of Money and You - Tony Bennett & Count Basie...(sucker swings)

Apparently, some of you can't count to THREE :sqeek:

Jason Mraz - I'm Yours
David Sanborn - Bang Bang
Bobby Caldwell - Come Rain Or Come Shine

In all fairness Steve, I said "like 3" and I gave 4! LOL

but I gave four because as the starter for the thread, I figured I should be 1% better! LOL

But some of these ideas have reminded me of some other ones I have played.

Wild Night - Van Morrison
Baby Got Back - Richard Cheese
Better Together - Jack Johnson

I'll stop at 3! LOL

Get Down On It - Wayman Tisdale
Sway - Pussycat Dolls
Forward Emotion - Pieces of a Dream
Groovin' High - Arturo Sandoval

I'll Play ..

All Nite Long - Lionel Richie
Tiny Dancer - Elton John
Saturday In The Park - Chicago
You Make Me Feel Like Dancin -ummmm can't remember his name

Michael Buble - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Fleetwood Mack- Hold Me
Clarence " Frogman" Henry - I Don't Know Why ( I love you but I do)

OK, now to stray away from that theme...

Sweet Caroline
Forever in Blue Jeans
Bubble Toes

Oh and Toto are really pushing the envelope.

Maybe not, but for some reason, "Africa" never dies. College kids love it as much as fortysomethings, and nobody ever gets tired of hearing it.

Meanwhile, "Power Of Love/Love Power" has bored me to tears since 1991. While it was Luther Vandross' biggest pop hit, it doesn't hold a candle to his earlier stuff and sounds sort of dated. In short, it's "Lite" Luther. At my events, this would go over about as well as any of the Michael Bolton songs from the same era.

Guess it's just not for me.

Come Undone - Duran Duran
People Gonna Talk - James Hunter
Hold You in My Arms - Ray LaMontagne

Love 'em...
