Alright...so...mini rant here along with a problem to solve...
With festivals in October some of my older passive/19" rack mounted gear has been going out. I've to realize I miss these systems terribly. It takes me under ten minutes (sometimes about 5) to put it up and tear it down with the whopping three cords I need to connect.
My coffin for weddings takes longer than I would like. Here are some of the issues:
-Running both power and xlr to powered speakers requires more connections
-Wireless mic does not fit in coffin
-Facade is needed to conceal all the spaghetti spewing out of the coffin
-I'm constantly fishing for wires as there is way too much going on in the space provided
Here's what the coffin has in it:
-Pioneer DDJ-SX2
-Power strip
-QSC PLX 3402 (used frequently to connect to passive speakers for larger events)
Here's what I've done so far to clean it up
-Order the shortest lengths of cables possible for each item
I have the RCA out on the DDJSX wired to the QSC amplifier, and I have a power splitter zip tied to two 1' xlr cables running to the board to connect to the siamese cables that run to my Evolve 50s.
I am not currently using the holes on the back of the coffin as I do not believe the siamese cables will clear the facade.
I'd like to clean this up by putting some sort of stable connection in or on the box for the siamese cables that run to the evolves so I am not fishing for and untangling wires each time I use it. I've been thinking about making some sort of angled power stinger with xlrs on it. I use an extension cable currently as there is not a lot of good clearance to wire these directly to the board and power strip without stressing cables or ports. Does anyone have any ideas?
