I just purchased two of the Chauvet Wash FX Hex units... I love the brightness and versatility, but I'd really like to change the programming of it so that the LED order is RGBWAU. From the factory, it's RGBAWU (like almost all Chauvet fixtures), but I'd really love to use these fixtures with my RGBWAU uplights and Eternal Echomate control box.

I popped open the fixture and figure I can probably do this by finding the Amber and White wires that run from the DMX board to the LEDs and swapping them. Before I delve into this further, is there a better solution that I'm missing? I don't really want to get into more robust controllers, software, etc but I'm open to suggestions.

I'm curious as to why you'd want to do this. What would it correct? What would it allow you to do? I'm just curious.
Just use the DMX programming to control it that way.

Brendan, it is probably not as simple as moving wires. These days many LEDs are COB (chip on board). They probably take a digital input signal on a single data line (perhaps using I2C protocol) instead of a dedicated line to each color. In other words, you probably can't rewire it. The solution is to figure out how to program it via DMX.

If you do move into programming it at some point, all the mapping for that fixture is blown if you swap what channels are being affected.

Thanks guys. While I was hoping to keep it simple with my Echomate, it looks like programming is definitely the easier way to go for long-term use. Appreciate the feedback!
