Thanks! I would plan on linking them all, but running sound active. Then I could put them on 2 separate power switches, so I can choose either all on, just Intimidators, or just Insignias.
Of course this is all on personal preference....but....
I personally dont like the idea of the power switch thing myself....this is why...
When you plug the lights in, you know it takes a while for them to come on, and sometimes...in this process the bulb gets burned out.
SOOOOOOOOOoooooo......I thought of doing the same thing, but I fear that..just my luck...the bulb would burn out when I turned it on....and Whammo..i am down one light.
Now....the linking issue. There is so many ways you can link the lights.....this is what I would do..and again..this is all personal preference at this point......
I would link the Intimidators in position #1 and #3 together...and also link the #2 and #4 together. Then I would let the insignias run independently since they are a nice effect. I would put two of the intimidators on a high sensitivity..and the other two I would slow down substantially. That way one basically covers the low end sound activation..and one goes with just about anything.
The insignias...I would put them both on a medium sound active setting. Not too wild..and not slow by any means.
AND....if you threw 4 led par cans in the mix....I would put two Leds on their lowest setting so it only hits with the beat......and I would put two leds on a higher setting which would just about bounce to any sound.
For my show tonight this is what I have..and this is how I set them.....this is all one on 10ft truss...I used to dj out of both of my 10ft windows..this year I put everything to one side.......heres what I am running for my street dance....
On the upper side of my truss I have 4 LED Pro 64's which I have basically pointed right in front of the trailer..which fills the direct floor. Two are set on Speed 04...and two are set on Speed 28. The 04's only hit with the bass, and the 28s bounce pretty quickly. In the middle of each side of the truss....I am running two Intimidators...unlinked...and one is set to a higher speed, and one is on about 1/2 of the setting or just a hair less. Again..basically hitting with the beat. Now along the bottom of the truss...I have a dual gem on each end of the truss, and a quad gem right in the middle of the truss...and I have two led Par 64 Pro...in between the quad and the gems. I have the quad gem pointed just above where the upper 64's reach to cover a wide area, and it is more appealing to the eyes looking to the trailer. I then have the two dual gems...pointed at about 45 degree angles to the sides of the dance floor helping fill space. BTW..the intimidators are pointed right on the dance floor, and not into the eyes of the guests just standing back. Then I have...the two other LED 64's pointed towards the trailer...and they are linked together. My business name is Party Revolution..so one is pointed at like the ART and one is pointed the OLU which highlights my name. The banner I got has a black background..and the lettering is white...so it really stands out. I have the speed settings on those Pros at 02..so they barely change colors...it looks great.
Looking at the trailer..it looks kinda crappy....but when you look at the dance floor, and you see all the effects..and how much of the dance floor is filled....it looks darn good. Of course....there are better lights out there..but this is by no means..a bad light show.
The reason I posted my truss setup..was only to say..that instead of turning your lights on and off....Just change the speed settings..and I would say..link the intimidators together. 1 and 3...2 and 4. This is what I did last year...and it looked just fine.
The next thing is....set up your trusses one night...and just play with the sensitivity levels until you are happy with the speed of the lights. It takes a little time..but it will make a huge eye appealing difference.
