Just back from CES, although I am in Boston now trying to go through all of the stuff I saw. This year plenty of laptops. A Couple of them caught my eye. First, we had the new Lenovo Thinkpad X1. It looks like a large-screen iPad which folds and comes with a wireless keyboard that can magnetically snap to the screen or be used Separately. You can use the display as two screens or one large, One side with a virtual keyboard, horizontal or vertical. Or snap on the keyboard fold it over and the thing is like a laptop. Lenovo also has one that does the same features except it has a hinge/speaker between the two displays. Find both designs very interesting but a little unnerving about folding the display without the hinge. The Samsung rep said that their folding cell phone was tested to 100 cycles, every day for five years. I’ve sold a lot of Samsung laptops recently and got my daughter one If you have a Samsung cell phone they integrate well with the Samsung laptops.
Next, we have the LG gram laptops. Even the 17” was the lightest laptop I ever picked up, it felt lighter than my IPad. I thought my son was handing me an empty laptop without a battery or guts. It is EVO, so 9 hr of battery life & it came with the new 13th generation Intel processor and two SSDs. I didn’t see the folding laptops coming. There is a ton of flexibility in the way you can use these units. For me, it’s like they want me to give up my iPads, which is not likely because I do office hrs on the beach and just toss my iPad around.
I saw almost too much new tech remember it all I’m still going through the pictures & video. The 2 hr wait in line to go through security at the Las Vegas airport was a killer. I never saw a line that long in my life. After five days on my feet walking 4 to 5 miles a day, that wasn’t was I needed. I’m considering Clear or the pre-check now.
