I visited a friend who lived in Hoboken, NJ way back in 2005. I would have no desire to EVER live there. I also got a ride through Patterson, NJ. ...What a $hithole...pardon my french. My friend had his car broken into twice while he was working in Patterson. At the time, my friend told me the crap hole houses with two families living in them in Patterson were going for over $400,000. I thought that was ridiculous back then...I am sure 15 years later it is more ludicrous

Toms River is nice. Also very expensive! You won't ever catch me move north...Mainly because of the weather, but also because there simply is not any place that would make financial sense to move there.
Actually it’s funny my wife was just saying let’s look at Toms River because it’s SO CHEAP compared to North Jersey. Hoboken is extremely expensive, and only worth it if you commute to the city. As far as Paterson... don’t ever go there.

Yes, but having to request it months before you need it is probably tough .. :)

Very much a falsehood. Elective takes a while necessary or emergency is pretty quick. A good example of that is Cancer from diagnosis to treatment in the US is 29 days in Canada 32. The goal for treatment in the UK (also socialized medicine) is 14 they run in reality at 16 or so.

We don't do well on elective procedures. As an example hip or knee replacement can be 6 months to a year wait time again unless it's an emergency situation then it's almost immediate

You could possibly get 5 maybe 6 here for a half million.
But you'd have to be in Nova Scotia...not worth it, IMnotsoHO. :)
It's cold but I enjoy the free health care ;)
Free, HA!...only if you do not mind at the sacrifice in quality and of individual freedoms...again, not worth it.

We threw you Cajuns out over 250 years ago stay where you're at ;)

You do realize that Medicine is a shared science right? We have the same technology you do...

and of individual freedoms...

What freedoms do you believe you have that I don't?

They fled from your ugly women and horrible food and migrated to get some GRITS (Girls raised in the South) and cuisine.

You do realize that Medicine is a shared science right?
The "science" may be shared but the means of delivery is not

We have the same technology you do...
Keep believing that.

What freedoms do you believe you have that I don't?
They say ignorance is bliss...stay happy!

I wonder who gave you those freedoms. Oh right, the very people you disrespect and dishonor.
They say ignorance is bliss...stay happy!
As applied, you must be having a ball.

I remember, one of the local townships TRIED to implement a $35 "entertainment tax".
It would apply to live performers, karaoke nights, and DJ for private parties.

It failed, basically because the venues decided that they weren't gonna play along.
They refused to ask performers to pay it,
and the venues were even prepared to pay the $35 themselves.

i was drinking with some CanadiansI met in Vegas last week. I asked them what they thought of their health Care system. They started arguing with each other. One guy it was great." I broke my arm, and it was fixed right away with no charge." His buddy said, "Well, people in my family have had to wait for things that can be immediate in the US. Also the company he works for, a flooring company, is building another plant. But they can't even consider building the plant in Canada because of the taxes. He believed the Health Care system is to blame.

For me, we have a glaring example of what government controlled health care would be like in the USA. The Veterans Administration. It's awful. If the government can't give good care to people who've earned it, how will they do for the general public?

Why is the Gov't in the squeeze business and why do you defend, surrender to the belief that they are some how entitled to establish how much of my earned income they want to take?

I know this wasn't asked of me, but I'll share my brief perspective.

I pay my federal taxes because I believe America continues to need a strong military, and I don't think that elderly Americans should live in dire poverty after paying into the social security OASDI system for those that came before them.

I pay my state taxes because I think we need decent roads to drive on, and kids deserve an education from qualified teachers.

I pay my county property taxes because if I ever need to dial 911, I hope that a member of the police, EMS, or fire department is available to take my call.

While I have no doubt that there is bloat in government budgets and that I don't agree with the way every dollar is spent. I also don't have any core services that I'm comfortable forfeiting in the interest of cutting my personal taxes.
