Just hopped on ebay on a whim and bought a couple 25 foot IEC cables... a few minutes later i realized after looking further that they were only 18 AWG...

Would you trust these to run a speaker? or a large moving head?

You can buy IEC inline plugs in various capacities and put them on any wire you want.

A clever trick is to put a 10" tail to IEC on your existing extension cord so that you have the best of both worlds - and IEC end and power pass-through to a standard Edison.

I have similar, but it is a single IEC (coupler) on one end, plug on the other. I also have myriad of IEC cable lengths: 4', 5', 9', 10, 15' and of course 25'. I now have only a few Blizzard pucks left after downsizing, but way too many cords.

yeah i utilize those as well.... the adj mega tripars have the dumb iec outputs instead of a standard outlet....so i stocked up for daisy chaining

Yeah, all of my lighting is from Adj and they all use the IEC/for in/out, I bought a bunch of used 2ft IEC cables that got pulled from a server farm or something for stupid cheap, I use those for my wash lighting on the stand.

Okay, so...because I'd probably electrocute myself or burn my house down doing electrical work, what gauge of IEC is recommended for speakers, subs and moving heads...14 guage?

12 ga is good to 20 amps
14 ga is good to 15
16 ga is good to 12
18 ga is good to 10

so it depends on the current draw of everything connected to it. LED PARs draw so little, an 18ga is fine. With subs or amps for subs, I might go conservative and use 12ga. I think most of mine are 14ga.
