I used to have a set of JBL 4715a subs to make a long story short I'm making another set. My wife said what are you out of your f*ckin mind. I've got 4 15 Inch jbl speakers and I'm pretty handy at building things so why not. I built them to the same specks as the original ones, I already have a set of SR 4738 they both are the same size. I just love to hear and feel that slug hammer smack in the chest bass. Just one more thing I can cross off my buckit list. When I get them done i'll show you all the end product 100_3472.jpg100_3474.jpg100_3475.jpg100_3476.jpg100_3478.jpg

I thought the originals were ported in the front?

Is the last picture what you're matching them to?

yes the last picture is my 4738, the bass cabinet (4715a) will be the same size. I haven't put the front ports in the cabinets yet there will be a 4 Inch port on each side. Ordered all the hardware for them last week should have it Monday. Those badges came with the cabinets

I think the originals had three ports, so if you are using just two, a little re-tuning may be required. It's actually very easy to do with the speakers on their backs and some salt on the speaker cone. I can give you more specifics if you need it.

Very, very nice!!

hardware came in Monday, this weekend I hope to put everything together.
Yes the originals did have 3 ports in them

the cabinets are coming along. Routed all the edges cut the holes for the handles and back plate. Got the insulation in one of the boxes today and glued and screwed the face plate to the cabinet. I was going to carpet them instead I will use dupli color truck bed coating, looks just like that spray on bed liner. here is a couple more pics as of today100_3486.jpg100_3489.jpg100_3490.jpg100_3492.jpg100_3493.jpg100_3494.jpg

That propane space heater is REALLY impressive!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a reason I live in Florida. When I retired, I threw my snow shovel in the car and started driving south. I'd pull over and ask people if they knew what it was. If they said "that's a snow shovel", I got back in my car and kept driving south. I finally got to a spot where they said "I have no idea what that is". That's where I live!

final stage of preparation What a pain in the ass, both cabinets are sand down and ready to be painted. Got one coat on 1 cabinet today so far it looks pretty good
